Some dude went to Wikipedia and superimposed every battle the website has listed onto a map of the globe. He also kept tabs on the Top 10 "winningest" nations throughout history.

YouTube

If you don't want to watch the 5+ minute video, the final Top 10 are as follows:

1. France - 1,115 battles won
2. Great Britain - 1,105 battles won
3. United States - 833 battles won
4. Russia - 491 battles won
5. Germany - 425 battles won
6. Spain - 387 battles won
7. Poland - 344 battles won
8. Rome - 259 battles won
9. China - 244 battles won
10. Turkey - 210 battles won

Their current reputation is not indicative of their historical military prowess.

So China, a county with thousands of years of history only won 244 battles?

For some odd reason I just don’t believe that

You have to take into account the years in which China wasn't a united nation. They are numerous.

Yeah. Still farrrrrrrrrrr too low. Just noticed it’s only the list of battles on Wikipedia. So that explains why

China has been so isolated and haven’t gotten into other countries business is why they have so little battles.

On the other hand, the U.S. with 833 victories with the relatively short history compared to European nations is quite impressive. #Merica

I like to think I keep pretty up to date on current events but I must have slept through the Battle of Des Moines and the Battle of Jacksonville in 2011.

Ummm, really? How are they isolated? Maybe from Europeans, but modern day China borders 14 fricking countries. That’s more shared borders than any other country. Italy by comparison is way more isolated than China.

Plus if you did an average across the centuries, China and its various dynasties are almost certainly the richest country overall in history. There were big, big reasons to invade China if you could muster the force to take them on. Why do you think they built a big fricking wall? It’s not because they were isolated.

It also looked like they gave both Union and Confederate wins to the United States, as the US jumped up from the Civil War but there was no corresponding CSA win spike.
