In the late 1990s as I started my career I was looking at St. George as a retirement spot. It has grown considerably.

I also ended up with Oyster Bay

The rest of my top 5 were:

Babylon, NY
Hempstead, NY
Cambridge, MA
Somerville, MA

ETA: I mostly voted against liberals and diversity, but didn’t shy away from mixed politics. I prioritized good restaurants and not being always hot.

Ours were pretty close. We had similar criteria

Babylon, NY
Hempstead, NY
Oyster Bay, NY
Spokane, WA
Colorado Springs, CO

Prioritized walkable or transit, conservative to mixed politics, multiple seasons, and stayed away from liberal politics or diversity if I could. Looking on street view these are some nice places.

Orem, Utah. I'm good with it. 81% white, conservative, next door to Provo, lots of parks, etc.

Almost all my top 20 were in the Northwest. I’d choose a place in ID or MT over WA and OR though which were the top suggested. Makes sense, I love being in Whitefish, MT area near GNP where my parents have a second home.
