Time for a good old OT traffic argument

You're approaching an intersection that's usually controlled by a traffic light, but they're malfunctioning. Instead of the usual red-yellow-green, the direction you're traveling is blinking yellow and the other way is blinking red.
Do you treat it as a 4 way stop or go straight through?

The other way (blinking red for stop) is supposed to yield to you (blinking yellow for caution).
But I still slow until I make sure they have stopped.

Yield to already turning vehicles but other wise proceed with caution (not hauling arse through the intersection).

We all know the answer to this but unfortunately Baton Rouge drivers are by and large dumbasses with little traffic IQ. So...treat it with kid gloves.

Yellow means proceed with caution. Red means stop. So you continue through the intersection carefully keeping an eye out for idiots that are treating it like a 4-way stop.

i've always thought the yellow in one direction and red in another is extremely dangerous. Just make them all red, all the time and get your bitch arse out there and fix them fast.
otherwise, you're just guessing as to what the other side has, unless you can see all the lights, and even then you're then looking away from the road and cars ahead of you by trying to crane to see the other direction's lights.

Yellow should slow down/show caution and red should treat it like a stop sign. If you do anything else you are a danger to yourself and everyone around you.

Theory and legally = You proceed with caution. The red flashing is supposed to treat as like a stop sign.
In practice = proceed but be ready to stop because people don’t realize you have a yellow flashing light. They usually assume you have what they have, a red flashing light. So they are expecting you to stop too.

I recall Perkins and Kenilworth were completely out one morning. The latter treated the situation like a kid at Christmas morning. I was baffled that Perkins had to share with them.

Proceed with caution, but do not come to a complete stop unless you're preventing a collision. Blinking red is a stop sign, not blinking yellow.

Yellow light proceeds with caution. Drive defensively because you never know what other idiots will do.
After Gustav BR drivers were asked by the mayor to treat all intersections as 4-way stops though, because no one was doing it right.

The correct answer is to put on your hazards, slow down to 20 mph below the speed limit, and don’t stop for yellow light.
