Low Spots in Yard
Posted by ItSawGood on 7/27/25 at 8:55 pm
What is a general rule of thumb on when to use sand to level or to bring it more dirt?
Have a few low spots in my yard that consistently hold water and at best they are just muddy slop with weeds. These spots can be driven over with my ZT maybe twice a year during a “drought” period in summer/fall without getting stuck. Im in SE Louisiana.
For additional context, we had bad floods in 2016 and my neighbor said the previous owner thought the flood “reset” the water table and these spots may have been where trees previously were when they cleared the lot 30 years ago. Allegedly these low spots weren’t issues until the flood. Neighbor has a pond near these wet spots but not sure that’s the issue as other areas by the pond are bone dry.
TIA

Track and field remain untouched. My thought with hand held equipment was towards racquets, golf clubs, etc.
At this rate we’re going to have drone flying in 2028.

Liberals are how we got to this point. You really think the Olympics are better because China and France get to field a 3X3 Womans basketball team?
Ah frick. Downvote to hell.

Should be to limited to sports/ activities that do not use balls or other handheld equipment to compete.
Depends on the cavernous storage potential under your acreage. They've likely done some sort of imaging to get an idea since they approached you. Would have them send you a proposal of sorts to see what they are offering but before you agree I suggest you definitely get an attorney involved who has experience in this space to ensure you're not getting screwed.
Need to make sure you're not liable for any damages as a result of the storage, EPA suits, etc.
Would also consider getting a third party to corroborate their assessment of cavernous storage. Usually they pay by volume of storage used. But you could set it up where you get an upfront payment and then true up payments later as they pump. But given it's only 20 acres, I'm not sure what cost v. benefits would be on those upfront administrative costs. May want to set up LLC to receive those payments and house costs, etc. I'm not an attorney so take it for what it's worth.

I remember as well. Also the whole “Fruit Loops” vs “Froot Loops”
What obstacles have you as a family overcome to get to the draft.
Bless her heart. I’d imagine I would be speechless and zoned out as well.
Serious answer would be to reach out to companies in the industry you work in directly. Looking them up on the internet, finding a contact, emailing or calling them to express interest. A huge shortfall in qualified candidates these days and if you’re worth a sniff they’ll hear you out. Not saying you walk in unannounced, but direct contact with a decision maker may be more fruitful then going through HR.
