Foam the attic ceiling.
My attics never get about 10-20 degrees over house temp.
The lights still fail.

I keep ours downstairs and they last years. LED and incandescent.

It's God punishing you for hanging them up too early.

Except they will burn your house down but that’s part of the risk reward I guess

Never not once had them burn my house down...so there is that. Although I sometimes put flicker lights in there to make it look like the tree is on fire.
I have about 100 strings of c7 lights from the 90s new in the box. My mom would buy them after Christmas for pennies on the dollar as it was the cheapest way to get replacement bulbs.
Kids love the old school bubble lights. Old school cool tech that's not possible with leds. Only flaw I've found as they age is you sometimes have to tap them a bit to get them to start bubbling.

Everything is manufactured to maximize profit. Free market is the only option. But this is a result of it.
No, you want the cheapest price for that strand of lights, so you shaped the market, not “big lights.”

A few bulbs are loose. Check them all. If they’re LEDs from Walmarks or Home Depot.

They also make a Light Keeper Pro for LEDs. It’s a little more complicated to use, but I have a massive display and I’ve saved thousands of dollars repairing them

They just leave theirs up and turn them one sometimes.
It is only trashy if you used colored lights.
Clear or white would accent the house.

If one goes out they all go out. Better check every bulb.

I honestly have less trouble with the c7 and c9 lights.
Except that you can’t connect more than 2 strands together without blowing a fuse one week after you put them up, and have to get back up on the roof. Plus they’ll break if you breathe on them too hard.
I still like C9, but this year I’m trying some LED C9 strands. The colors are a little off, but the energy savings plus the cost of replacing several strands each year will probably make it worth it.
