you've lost love ones in a helicopter crash?

Looks kind of small for 7 people.

No
It’s the sudden, tragic death that is the root of the empathy, not the method of which they died.

If it's a Bell 407, it holds seven. Five in the back, two in the cockpit.

Local news shows the helicopter intact and floating inverted. What so you think caused this?

Production operators are required to take a water survival training course by OSHA. You get in a helicopter over a pool at a training facility, they flip it over and into the pool. You have to swim out.
And if you don’t know to wait until the water pressure inside the cabin equalizes with the outside, THEN knock the window out, THEN unbuckle your seatbelt, you probably aren’t getting out.
This assumes you’re still at least conscious when hitting the water.

Never done it but operators HATE it
I did it once many years ago when I was much younger, in a single seat simulator with no sides, in daylight, in a swimming pool, with people there to help me if something went wrong, and I knew that I had nothing to really worry about. I'm a decent swimmer but not the most comfortable in water. I survived but it wasn't fun at all.
This was in darkness, in open water, knowing that they were in trouble before hitting the water with time for panic to set in. I would have to be lucky to survive that.
The HUET training in a full simulator is no fun at all from people I've talked with about it.

yeah and the whole point of reference on the door and watch your bubbles procedure is useless since the accident happened at night and they were in the dark
I have taken water survival several times and I can honestly say I would have died just as they did. They didn't stand a chance. The fact the pilots died tells me they must have hit HARD. Those guys know how to get out and they died too. Everyone was probably knocked unconscious by the impact
RIP

So why wasn't the emergency flotation system deployed?

The photo suggests otherwise. The landing gear is intact with no evidence of yielding or buckling. The emergency floats are still attached and the covers are still closed. That's not consistent with a hard water landing.

Honestly asking how does this happen? I thought helicopters rotors counter rotate with a loss of power? They can still hit hard I know. Maybe they were flying low and fast to begin with? Would that be Normal?
Very sad accident. Seems like these things happen way too often with people with money.

Maybe the pilot/s died trying to save the passengers?

So what are your thoughts on what might have happened?
