Likley.... my family is from and some are still able to travel back and forth. The housekeeper in the hotel was waiting outside to make one of my uncle rooms up as he was getting ready to leave..... he said come on in, I'm almost done. She took 2 steps in then right back out and said she cannot....pointing to the TV which was on. These people are not allowed to watch non giv controlled TV, they are afraid to even be in the same room as it.

Absolute claptrap there. Everyone with a brain knows they're protesting climate change.

unless there's a hurricane approaching, the climate in the Caribbean is partly cloudy skies, temperature in the mid-eighties, and winds from the east at about 10-15 mph, made that PA about a few thousand times

FWIW, here are 4 times that Bernie Sanders has talked about how awesome Cuba's Communist Government was.

quote:

Like in 1986, when he waxed poetic about how tingly Castro's revolution made him feel.

Video: @BernieSanders, University of Vermont, 1986, recalls his excitement watching Castro's revolution “rising up against the ugly rich people." & his sick feeling watching JFK speak out against communism in Cuba.

Also bashes the @nytimes for lying about communism.

I remember, for some reason or another, being very excited when [former Cuban dictator] Fidel Castro made the revolution in Cuba. I was a kid ... and it just seemed right and appropriate that poor people were rising up against rather ugly rich people.

In February 2020, during his failed presidential campaign, Berne Sanders had this to say about Castro.

We're very opposed to the authoritarian nature of Cuba, but you know, it's unfair to simply say everything is bad. You know? When Fidel Castro came into office, you know what he did? He had a massive literacy program. Is that a bad thing?
It's an irrelevant thing when Castro also starved, tortured, and murdered his people. But, you know, details.

The next day, the media tried to give him an out during a CNN town hall. "Bernie, you don't realllllly like Castro, do you?"

Truth is truth, alright?

The NEXT DAY, after a presidential debate, the media AGAIN tried to give Bernie and out. "But Bernie, you don't realllllly realllllly like Castro, do you?"

Astounding. Sanders will not stop equivocating and whitewashing the horrors of socialist regimes like the Castros in Cuba.

Cuba is a dictatorship. But that does not mean to say, as Obama pointed out, that even under a dictatorship you can teach people to read and to write.

Remember folks, Bernie Sanders unsuccessfully sought the Democratic Party nomination for president of the United States in 2016 and 2020, finishing in second place in both campaigns. And before his election to Congress, he was mayor of Burlington, Vermont.

in short, a leader of the Democratic Party in the USA.

I'm a skeptic about outlandish politicized claims made by anonymous strangers on the internet. I don't believe your friends told you "the greatest thing to ever happen to Cuba was not instituting racist US policies." Sorry.

And you just proved my point. You try and divert attention away from it by calling it "outlandish" when in reality, it is 100% mainstream progressive dogma at this point.

If it brings attention to the insanity of progressives, it's labeled as "fringe" or "outlandish". Or like you already have tried to push, just made up out of thin air. Same playbook every time.

Michael Moore made a fricking movie about how awesome Cuba's healthcare system is and in that movie pointed out how racist the US healthcare system is. That was a W in the Cuba column for him. But it's outlandish to say that a couple of people that I know and converse with regularly would hold those same views.

I sometimes think these morons have no idea what they are voting for most of the time.

They have been told by someone they respect that voting democrat party is the way to go and they just do it based on that.

Then as they get older they realize what they have been voting for and they are too stupid/proud to admit their mistake.

So they come up with these really stupid excuses for voting the way they do. I mean this is the only thing I can think of that would cause someone to actually believe some of the bullshite they spew.

When I think of all the jobs, money, and opportunities for that country and their people over the many years since Castro took over it is truly one of the biggest wastes of all time. Try and imagine the revenue that could have come from making Cuba a vacation hot spot destination, as well as a key area of expansion for manufacturing and production, shipping, trade, etc. What a waste of opportunity and time, and for what? Failure? It was the inevitability from the very start.

Exactly. 60 some odd years of the most prosperous time in American history and all that came with that for places that could have been Cuba down the drain.

Over the years I've worked with a fair amount of 'foreigners'. Recently, I had a young Cuban girl working for me. I didn't know the backstory on how she, her husband, and their young son came to America but I can say this: not only was she was one the hardest workers I ever had, but I've never seen anyone earn their US citizenship as fast and so proud to become an American as her.

I think that says a lot about both Cuba and America.
