This is considered more fantasy fiction than a hypothesis.

It's pretty much established. I cannot understand how anyone would have an issue with it.

There are many variations of it. Certainly there was a major outmigration (or more than one) from Africa. There may have been one or more "remigrations" back to Africa (assuming that is the cradle of homo sapiens as a distinct species).

The more we learn about the "other" human species and how, ultimately, homo sapiens conquered all of them in turn, modern arguments about "wypipo" colonizing anything seems droll. Quaint, even.

If anything, homo sapiens moved into Europe in large numbers, assimilated/exterminated the neanderthal population, created a new, robust "hybrid" strain (very light, mind you, ~2%, slightly higher in East Asia, but that's a discussion for another time), and this hybrid, African-originated homo sapiens hybrid went on to conquer the known world, ultimately.

"Hey, you can't colonize us after we colonized you! No fair!"

This.

As possibly the only poster on this site with a BA and MA in Anthropology, anyone arguing for the multiregional hypothesis (or any other theory) needs to do more research.

There was actually a question about OOA vs. Multiregional on my comps

What always bothered me with that hypothesis was that the archeology was where the ground was exposed: deserts.
What about searches elsewhere?

Now we know the word Denisovian, and people are looking at collapsed caves through Europe and Asia and they are finding bones and teeth and even older tools and animal bones that show signs of having been butchered.

They weren't found earlier because people weren't looking elsewhere.

Then there is the change in oceanic coastlines and places like the Dogger Bank east of England where people were living. Before the glaciers melted and drowned the area.

What we 'know' now will end up being footnotes.

The same line of reasoning that resulted in this:

quote:

me as an atheist.

resulted in this:

quote:

human’s skin instantly turned from black into white.

Completely predictable.

We can never know for sure, but pretty much all the agreed upon evidence points to humanity coming out of Africa. I suppose new evidence could come along to bring that in to question, but with what we know today, it appears our ancestors came from Africa.

Switch your focus to genetics. Archeology has too many disadvantages.

Father was in the army and I lived in Ethiopia for 3 years. We left in 1973, a few years before the communist takeover. While it was the most fun placed I ever lived, I'm glad we got "out of Africa" when we did.

Factoid: Karen Christentze von Blixen-Finecke had a Titanic-esque shipside romance with Paul Emil von Lettow-Vorbeck while they traveled to Africa from Europe. She, on her way to Kenya; he on his way to command the German colonial forces in Cameroon. Robert Redford's character was a hypocrite of the highest order and kind of a dick overall.

I personally thought it was a fantastic movie.
“Doesn’t that outfit come with a rifle?” is one of my favorite movie lines.
