I hate missing meals so no.

But I also work out six days a week and lift heavy. No way I'm skipping meals. Sometimes I won't eat a late snack and skip breakfast on cardio/running days and it's miserable.

I am mentally preparing myself to do a 7 Day fast in the near future. I've done an 84 hour fast several months ago and then I did a 3-day fast about a year and a half ago. I like the health benefits you get, autophagy and cellular repair.

Self control is cool, too

The praying for family during episodes of sacrifice I get…is cool.

The starving your body (God’s design of your life) seems ironic.

If self control is important for you to pray for your family, why not pray everytime urge to watch TV, place Amazon order or think of that sexy neighbor of yours? Kidding.

Joshing aside, pray on.

Same. Then it feels good-even easy.
Do it. You'll do a difficult thing-which is always good for a man-and you'll feel wonderful physically afterwords.

That said Imma go eat a burger now,

God instructs people to fast. Are you saying that God doesn’t know how life works or that God is instructing people contrary to his purpose?

Or do you not actually believe in God and are using this as a disingenuous argument?

The longest I ever went without eating, except when I was sick, is three days. I did it in high school to lose weight for the wrestling team. After the first day I was not hungry. After the third day I had to force myself to start eating again. What I did is bad for your health - don't do it.

I fast 4-5 days a week. Breakfast and lunch only. Nothing but water or unsweet tea from 1:30 PM till 6:30 AM the next day. I've lost 30# and have had no issues other than clothes and belts being too big
I piss more than I did when I wasn't fasting.

Did one 24 hour fast early on. As long as I could keep moving and stay occupied, it wasn't any trouble.

God creates life!

Central to God’s design of life is the Krebs cycle (cellular life).

People fast (extended) for religious purpose.

Krebs cycle is essential to life and God’s design thereof. Fasting (extended) flies in its face.

Never fully grasped religious irony.

Are there not better ways to Honor God?

Is that a poem?

Did a Sunday night last meal until following Saturday mid morning meal one time, just because.
You need to keep your electrolytes up too. You can do so without cheating the fast with cream of tartar and salt in water. pink Himalayan salt is best. just Google it for proper ratios and how often.

Yes. In the Old Testament, the Israelites are frequently instructed to fast as legal, ceremonial requirements. Did God not understand life before the coming of Christ?

After Christ, Jesus assumes people will fast in his sermons “when you fast…”

After his death, though there is not a legal/ ceremonial requirement to fast because we no longer live under the law, the apostles and early Christians still fasted because, like prayer, it’s a good thing to do and is shown in the Book of Acts.

I've lost 50 lbs over the last 10 months by doing 18/6 intermittent fasting daily, along with two separate 72-hour fasts during that time.

1. How you break your fast is just as important as what you drink during it. What works best for me is bone broth, boiled eggs, watermelon, and cucumbers with sea salt. Not all at once though. LOL. I usually start with about a cup of bone broth, wait 30 minutes, then maybe eat a boiled egg or some cucumber slices. Start light. Don’t think you’re firing up the grill for two chicken breasts at hour 73.

2. The first 24 hours are the toughest, and honestly it’s mostly mental. Drink plenty of water, add some salt for hydration, and maybe squeeze a little lemon into your water during your first fast to trick your brain into feeling like it’s getting a treat.

3. Hours 25–48 were the hardest for me physically. That’s when I felt the most hunger. I stuck to black coffee in the morning and water throughout the day. I also struggled sleeping during my first 72-hour fast, but had no issues during the second one.

4. Hours 49–72 were surprisingly great. My joint inflammation dropped noticeably, and I actually felt like I had more energy.
