Those of you that own a “nonessential” small business, idk how you’re doing it

Funny how yesterday he “reminded” small business owners they could be open if they restrict it to 10 customers at a time. First time I’ve heard him say that. Media even asked if he thought “non-essential” businesses really understood that.

Every time I hear “non-essential” I get pissed. They are essential to their livelihood, essential to the economy, essential to our way of life. I don’t care what you call them, but stop calling them “non-essential”.

We said "frick it" and stayed open, just not to outside visitors. We keep less than 10 ppl in the office, we keep our distance and use hand sanitizer like its going out of style. Most staff are working from home and stop in if/when needed. Everything is handled electronically as much as possible. Efficiency is down, but most projects got furloughed anyway.

This was to keep FB Kevin placated. They left restaurants with takeout and the grocery stores open for FB Karen to keep her drunk.

at some point someone or some group has to challenge all of this. Nothing ever changes until it gets legally challenged. But the courts don’t initiate cases by themselves, someone has to file.

When will a small business owner sue over all of this?

I own a small European style bed and breakfast in Nola. Have been open for 6 years but this will do us in. I can’t see travel going back to normal in the next year and the mortgage on the building is too high to sustain more than a few months without business. There are a lot of bailouts for the big hotels, but not small guys.
We will have to sell the building and probably take a big loss on the sale too depending on the RE market.

Gyms, salons, restaurants, movie theaters, bars, music venues can’t survive with those conditions in place. Open it all up, and stay home if you are scared.

I own a gym. We are a personal training facility and realistically could have stayed open while maintaining cleanliness and distancing between our clients and employees. One of the problems for us is that even if we reopen, I'm not sure how we survive with all of the restrictions. We will go out of business if forced to operate at 25% capacity, and who knows how many clients won't come back for a while due to restrictions at their own jobs or just from being scared from all the fear mongering our governor has done.

We thought about being defiant and opening up anyway, but I know of a few other gyms who tried the same thing and were visited by the police. At least one had their occupational license pulled.

I’d say F it... come on in y’all.

So lets say said non-essential small business opens up. Takes precautions and all that jazz. Yet, doesn't get traffic or people to come in because, well, there's a virus without a cure going on in the states. Now that business losses more money.

Some businesses, such as mine, can survive being an e-commerce business. And i feel if you're in retail or some type of business similar as a small business, you should be able to as well.

Salons, barbershops, nail shops, and such that require human touch...that putting yourself and others at risk. So opening will be at your own risk and those of your and their family cause you dont know who has what coming in.

I feel for small business like that and their families. But it literally is at your own risk. 78 new cases in DFW yesterday. 120 in Georgia. Like...
