Man, I can not even begin to imagine how you feel or what you are dealing with. The closest person I ever lost was my dad and that was 23 years ago.

From my experience all I can say is that time allows you to build a life without them. I am not going to say time heals because I don't think anyone truly heals when losing a loved one. I think its more accurate to say we adapt.

You will probably have a lot more moments like today and there is absolutely nothing wrong with that at all. If anything, its a good thing. I've always been the type to hold in my emotions so I think its good for your kids to see you that way. They understand you truly loved their mother. And hopefully they are able to turn to you to properly mourn. That's something I didn't have and part of the reason I kept things bottled up.

There isn't anything that anyone can say that will help you feel better about the hurt you feel from losing a loved one, but as time goes on you will establish a different life. And there will be things that will allow you to feel happiness again. I wish you the best.

If this helps, keep it up man. My mom has weeks to live now but she is 86, that is hard enough, can't imagine losing my wife and especially as young as I expect you are.

If anyone is an arse, just ignore them.

Thoughts and prayers your way, don't be afraid to se a therapist.

Let your son know how much you appreciate his concern, that you love him and he doesn't have to be a grown up now. He sounds like a great kid.

As for the room being dark, think of it as her being able to rest rather than her being in the dark.

I could momentarily feel your pain just reading that. Man, I hope and pray that you are given strength that is beyond what you think you possess.

I’m going thru the same with my dad. Passed June 10. I haven’t been able to go thru everything. I’ve gone over there multiple times and have tried, but break down & can’t get it done. I’m not a pansey cuck either, & not much of a crier, but this has been difficult, more so than I thought it would be. I can’t imagine dealing with the passing of a spouse, whew. Bless you bud.

I too find this helpful to discuss it, I’m just not a problem sharer, but maybe should be. My dad & I fished a lot, & found some pics of us with our catch. Stared at it for several mins & fell asleep with it, very comforting. Just try to find things to comfort you, & the the OT is always here. Good luck, prayer for you & yours, & God Bless.

Loss like yours is the single most difficult chapter of life. She will be with you in many small ways and details as you mentioned, but just be assured that as time goes on you will find a place to keep those memories that will allow you to go on sharing your future time with your family and loved ones. Expect that it will be difficult and the grief you experience is part of what makes you a human being in the journey we call life.

Best thing you've decided on is to leave and start fresh elsewhere, both for you and the kid. Stay strong through this, the pain will ease and memories will be with you forever.

It's hard right now for sure. The memories are fresh and they rip your heart right out. But, the same memories that rip you to shreds today, in time, will be the memories that bring you happiness and strength. Time will turn it around for you. Just keep going and don't listen to anyone who says it's time to move on with your life - do that on your own timeline. Prayers brother.
