Don’t ask someone if they want to go into a store with you ... you say do you want to get down!

What website was that quiz on? I remember something like that. It triangulated where you're likely from or grew up based on your language choices.
I'd love to take that again.
That thing nailed it for me.

No, in fact the people here are pure dicks,
Everybody I know that comes to Louisiana whether they move here or visiting talks about how much nicer the people are than where they are from. Food and how nice we are is something I hear from every single person just about.

Born on the east coast and lived in California for five years. Been here over 25 and plan to die here unless I hit the Powerball, at which time I will have dual citizenship in California and I could die there.
Love the NOLA Metro area. Great food, and always things to do. Two of the best parks in the US (City Park and Audubon Park). Plenty of local sports teams to follow.
I've been to almost every Parish in this state and I've found most people are friendly and welcoming.
Finally, I have learned through the OT that there are a lot of self-loathing people that hate this state.

If there's one thing I've learned from this message board, it's this: The only thing that Louisana residents think fondly about their state is their food and their football teams.
Makes sense. I've gone to BR and NOLA for games and it's a blast. I've been down on business and it makes me long for quite literally, anywhere else.

The people are nice.
As long as you agree with them.
I find people in Idaho much more respectful even when disagreeing. Not as hospitable to strangers for sure, but I'd rather be treated with respect and left to fend for myself than given a place to sleep and food to eat while being treated poorly because my ideals are different.

Several strong disagreements: as for as doing business in La. being so bad, how much business do you do in Chicago? N.Jersey? Manhatten? Any major city in Calf.? Political corruption tied to business opportunities in La., in comparison to any of the above, to keep the list short, is like minor league baseball & major league ball. They are pros. La. is a minor league player. As for cajuns, I disagree 1000%. Ever hear of the Cajun Navy? Their role in helping to raise $500 K for the impoverished in Athens, Ohio in response to Burrow's Heisman speech? Their role in sending hundreds of thousands of dollars to New Jersey victims of Hurricane Sandy? On a personal note, the wife had car trouble down the bayou & had 4 different cajuns stop and offer her help. from money to pushing her car to a not close by repair shop. Go to the Cajun Mardi Gras in Mamou: not one "dick" to be found in the thousands having a good, fun time. etc etc etc

After seeing the thread on King Cakes, which prior to reading I didn't know existed, it dawned on me that there's a lot I don't know about Louisiana. I imagine there are others here who, like me, were drawn to the site because it's the best SEC forum on the net without having ever been to Louisiana aside from the odd trip to the Sugar Bowl.
So OT, what are some unique things about Louisiana that everyone should know?
Why would you post this here????
The majority of people who post here do not live in Louisiana and they hate/mock the state daily.
You might as well ask a bunch of Nazi’s on stuff they should know about Jewish culture.

And saltwater fishing... we’re the best for that!

The level of obnoxious within the population is directly proportional to the latitude. North Louisiana is basically laid back baws. Farther south you go the more people become self serving assholes. New Orleans is the exception... they are just weird.
