I think Wisconsin/Michigan/Minnesota/Canada is the only other area of the world that drinks for sport like South Louisianians.
I thought it was just us until hanging out with Wisconsin fans. They're just pale versions of us with different accents, worse food, and fewer black people.

Those along with making groceries are uniquely New Orleans, not the rest of the state.
Exactly.
I was born and raised in LA and hadn't heard someone say "making groceries", "brake tags", or "neutral ground" until I joined this site.

Out of state contractors don't just get building permits.

No, in fact the people here are pure dicks, to be honest. Try doing business with a large sample of the Louisiana population and you'll see.
People in Louisiana are very ignorant, uneducated, and dicks.
I was born, raised, and still live here so I can say that.
Relative to what?

People from Maryland think they are eating blue crabs from the Chesapeake but most come from south Louisiana.

So OT, what are some unique things about Louisiana that everyone should know?
That Louisiana is a shite hole.
Never walk around New Orleans in the night hours, or day hours lest you be shot.
Sammy's is closing.
There's no such thing as a funnel cake king cake.
Crawfish prices will be adversely affected by good weather, bad weather, so deal with it.

"Louisiana is the only state in America whose political subdivisions are parishes and not counties."
There is a group of parishes known as the Florida Parishes that had at one time been a part of Spanish controlled Florida. It became the Republic of West Florida (look it up)for just over two and a half months during 1810. They were then annexed into the US. The Republic of West Florida flag preceded the The Bonnie Blue Flag that was an unofficial banner of the Confederate States of America. They look the same to me except the shade of blue might vary. There was one flying at top of the Louisiana welcome center flagpole (I-10 east) back in December. No US flag. History buffs will have to clarify this, but I think that the Florida Parishes were not part of the Louisiana Purchase.
New Orleans has cold drinks, brake tags instead of inspection stickers for cars, neutral ground instead of a Median. See Neutrally New Orleans: The story behind the term 'neutral ground'
You might hear the term 'Yat" used regarding people who have what I used to hear described as an 'Irish Channel' accent or way of pronouncing and phrasing words such as "Where you at?" or "Where yat?"
There is North Louisiana, Central Louisiana and South Louisiana. Then there is south of I-10 which has multiple connotations culturally and other reasons. In Baton Rouge living south of I-10 is a very good thing. In other words, many of us live on the wrong side of the tracks.

That's because the fake conservatives here are not conservative at all and love them some populism. Quick to vote republican for national offices but for more local, statewide offices they want their hand out. They won't ever admit this is true, but it is. Take the issue of TOPS as a perfect example.
Yes sir. And it's more obvious when you look at an statewide election map for governors/representatives.
It's more obvious in urban areas, but plenty of blue patches amoung the red.

Some linguistic differences between LA and the rest of the south:

Your taste in women is questionable, but your taste in people is spot on.
I think their a-hole nature derives from a massive inferiority complex, the French blood, and the fact that they’re shorter than the average person.
Remember the backlash around the joke about coonasses?
