Cream cheese. I hate the stuff.

Same here, and for some reason in Texas, people want to combine it with every dang thing.

You have to step up to the plate and buy a good bottle. What brands are we talking?

Something cheap like Rich and Rare?

Something nice and smooth like Eagle Rare?

I don't know about that, but there is a little meat market close to my house that sells containers of smoke cream cheese. Maybe i shouldn't knock it until i try it, but I don't have any desire to try it

I mean I enjoy a good smoked cream cheese and there are certain things cream cheese goes really good with. There is for sure a limit there though. Maybe he was referring to a jalepeno popper or something? Don't know. Those can be very good though.

What sounds weird about it I guess? Is it fish being served with tortilla that weirds you out? Otherwise, a fish taco isn't prepared or served the same was as say a ground beef taco.

I really don’t know other than the thought of fish in a taco sounds weird to me. One thing you have to remember is growing up in North Alabama in the 70s and 80s, it was far different then than it is now in that Mexican restaurants were not as numerous as they are now. Other than Taco Bell, Mexican restaurants were kinda rare. So my view on Mexican food was everything is either some sort of steak or chicken. Guess that’s kinda stuck with me.

That's fair and I'd also probably agree with you that if i'm at the type of mexican restaurant where some type of quesadilla is probably a go to order, I doubt i'd be ordering their fish tacos too.

However, a good fish taco is fantastic assuming you enjoy fried fish in general (it is typically fried, you can get blackened or grilled too). Lightly fried, served with some type of cabbage/slaw, maybe some pickled onions, pico, and then a light cream sauce like a jalapeno cream or something or avacado cream. In reality, isn't much different than anywhere here getting fried fish with cole slaw and tartar sauce, just a little different flavor profile on the slaw and sauce. Then served with tortilla instead of hush puppies as your "bread" source

Jesus.

I actually don't believe he existed at all. But I hate most of the teachings that are attributed to the fictional man known as Jesus.

I was exaggerating...a bit.

Texas sure seems to like shoving cream cheese into quail and shrimps, with both, I am personally against with every fiber of my glorious body.
