I'm always surprised at this stuff in Thailand, because If you've ever read memoirs and accounts of USAF squadrons based out of Thailand during the Vietnam war (especially the F-105 groups), one theme constantly popped up; you did NOT touch the girls in Thailand. They instantly took offense. They were happy to pour you drinks and bring you food, but unlike in South Vietnam, touching a native girl was a ticket to daddy and her male relatives looking you up. Decades later, Thai clubs are now (in)famous for hookers and trannies. Something changed, and that something was probably our military presence during the Vietnam war. Maybe we brought a serpent to the Siamese garden.
