You recognize your problem, now fight light a Bengal Tiger and bite the devils head off. Better times to come.

Good luck man. I have never been, but my senior year at LSU was one of my toughest years ever, because I had to help my father, who was dealing with his current divorce and a recent lay off, that had spiraled into alcoholism and drug abuse. He ended up OD'ing from mixing too much alcohol with his Xanax, about an hour before I showed up during a visit one weekend. I was fortunate enough to show up in time to get the EMT there, and the doctor later said I saved his life. Regardless, I basically forced him into rehab. Being an only child and his only child, with no one else who could be there for him, I knew something had to be done. He managed the 90s days and turned his life around. He still drinks on occasion(this was five years ago), but he always keeps perspective and doesn't let his life get out of hand.
It was all so surreal, that I had a serious time for the next year or so. I was majoring in ChemE, which is already ridiculously frustrating senior year, so my grades dropped, I became very cynical, lost heart for many things, and definitely became wreckless with my own drinking and demons. Luckily, I applied some of the skills I learned being that parent for my dad and was able to get my life back together without rehab. It was one of the most difficult experiences I've ever dealt with in life, but the character, self-discipline, and wisdom I gained from it all was worth it.
I wish you the best of luck. If I could give any advice for rehab and life in general, I would say to be open minded and forgiving to yourself. God speed.

Good luck
Don't worry about people saying you are "attention seeking" - every post on here is attention seeking otherwise why bother?
First thing to do when you get there is look around and say to yourself "Damn some of these frickers are worse off than me!" will make you feel better but realize some of the other folks are doing the same thing
been depressed in the past from time to time, is a real bad deal but it can be dealt with

Sucks missing Christmas with my family, but the best gift i can give is me happy and healthy.
As someone that had to spend a Christmas Day many years ago in the ER while doctors pulled me brother back from the edge of death due to alcohol poisoning...trust me, they'd rather deal with you being where you are and knowing that you're ok. Best of luck to ya.

In the car. Somewhere in Virginia. I'mn halfway there, so too late to turn back now.
Is it funny that as nervous as I am about everything, and I'm damn near petrified, the first thing I'll ask the counselor is probably going to be, "You guys are going to have the game on right?"

I get that your nervous, and I haven't had comparable experiences, so I'm not going to try and tell you how you should feel.
Just know that thousands of people have gone or are going through tougher experiences, and they've come out alive on the other end. This too shall pass.
And in the meantime, I sincerely wish you the best. For whatever that's worth.

Its a shame that Amy had to die before she got help. What a talent singer.

Had a coworker approach me the other day about his drinking problem. It's been pretty obvious to those of us who work with him, he's been missing a lot of time and having trouble with his S/O. He's decided he didn't want alcohol to take any more from him, and that's his rock bottom. Not sure if it is, but glad he's finally recognized the problem.
Good luck, just think of every day as a stepping stone. Even if you take a few steps back, keep climbing. Don't let alcohol take another thing from you.

I like Bloody Marys better sans vodka anyway.

glad you are heading that way, man....smash through these next few months and come out with a new lease on life.
fwiw, I would be scared shitless, too. not going to be fun, but honestly, you have likely made it through a heck of a lot worse.
