I've strongly suspected that 18 wheeler accidents have risen sharply from previous decades, and this week has not only solidified my belief, but has shown that things are out of control.

Yesterday afternoon, an 18 wheeler took out a power line, and knocked out the power from 3:00 to 6:00. Hottest part of the day, great timing.

I go to work this morning and get stuck in traffic because an 18 wheeler went off the highway, down a steep bank, and crashed into the woods. Two huge tow trucks were trying to pull it out when I went by.

Coming home for lunch, the truck had been removed. Nice.
I drive less than a mile further, and another damned 18 wheeler has crashed! This one going in the other direction on the highway.
It was hauling livestock and crashed into the median barrier. Hope the cows are okay.

Three 18 wheeler crashes in a small town that I've been affected by in 20 hours.

Rant over, truck nuts ON for the towing companies.

Probably because the drivers can't read signs written in English.

IDGAF but thank you for using “affected” instead of “impacted”.

Do you know why they advertise 18 wheeler wrecks so much?

Last I checked, 1M minimum liability policies.

Liberal states are giving driver’s licenses to illegal aliens & companies all over the country are hiring them to drive big trucks even if they can’t speak English & aren’t able to read the road signs. This is a fact & not debatable. I pray every time I get out the roads these days.

They are probably in cahoots with the ambulance chasers getting a cut of the lawsuits. They are pretty much safe inside their cabins when they hit cars.If you think this is crazy think about all the corruption in this nation.

This is because we no longer have Snowman and Fred going eastbound and down. It’s Hector, Dinkawakie, or Shamushie.

To add to this, State Police don’t do squat (sometimes aren’t allowed) to verify paperwork.

Wife works in the transportation industry and this is what happens. Truckers from Mexico drive a legitimate shipment from Mexico into the US. Passes through border control legitimately. They then simply don’t return to Mexico for weeks or months and get hired by cheap trucking companies to fulfill their shipments all throughout the US. When they want to go back home, they just drive back into Mexico and repeat the process when they’re ready to work again.

I despise those mother frickers with a passion. I read where the State Police wrote up a bunch of those dickheads for driving in the left lane on Whisky Bay bridge.

What about these newfangled trucks with no side mirrors? What's that all about?

Our main road is a US highway that parallels an interstate two valleys away. We don't see the 18 wheeler density that we see on that interstate. We feel safer on 'our' road.

In fact, driving out west we tend to take the older US highways that have been four laned because the traffic is less and most of the amenities are still there.

Getting a class A CDL is very easy. It took me 3 weeks to become licensed and another year on the road until I somewhat knew how to drive. I have been on the road over 12 years and still catch myself about to make a mistake.

Truck drivers have changed over the last couple of decades. Truck drivers can still make great money, but you don’t see nearly amount of the pride in the profession that was there 10-15 years ago.

Those true “truck drivers” are retiring/dying and the new drivers coming in to the profession just aren’t the same.
