There is no sense of urgency in Baton Rouge.

If you find a miraculous time in which traffic is actually moving, you'll inevitably be navigating through a maze of people who can't be bothered to drive any faster than 10mph under the speed limit, creating rolling roadblocks.
Standing in line at a grocery store checkout and the person in front of you is in no rush to put their shite back in the cart, or God forbid they forget something and decide to hold up the line so they can mosey to the back of the store to retrieve it.
You see this in the way our government conducts itself. Even the simplest things take forever to complete.
I realize other cities have their share of losers, too, but BR really seems to love to do everything about as slow as possible.

Part of the issue is that there are insufficient surface streets causing many people to use the interstate for local traffic.
That's puts grandma that can barely see over the wheel driving 45 MPH on I-10 trying to go from College to Acadian.

Part of the reason I don't try to drive 90 mph on city streets is because the streets are in such poor condition. For the roads I use often, I know where all the bumps and cracks are so I slow down to avoid tearing up my car. I don't have a lifted F350 with fancy suspension so I have to be careful.

My only advice is to move. I did and have never looked back.
