For some, it may have been the trip of a lifetime.
Go to New Zealand.
Take a boat or helicopter ride off shore
Land at the young volcano
Take a hike inside the volcano

Then the volcano went boom.

So far, helicopters and a boat are missing.
As are tourists photographed inside the crater just before it went boom.

That would be some seriously scary crap to be around a volcano if it erupted

Tourists from cruise liner Ovation of the Seas were visiting the island on Monday morning, according to the company's chief executive Mark Cairns.
He said the majority of those injured in the eruption are from the ship.

I wonder how effective those yellow hard hats the tour companies made their customers wear turned out to be.

Nice ship. Maybe next time don't book the shore excursion into the caldera of a highly active volcano.

Thought volcanos typically gave warning signs for days or weeks before going boom. That not the case?

Seems like research would have shown..seems like it just doesn't happen without giving off signals.

I'd be so pissed if I was in that volcano
