My entire circle of friends who make in the $50-150k range have stated that after working from home and giving up the commute and office politics they will no longer work in an office. A conscious decision was made that being in the office just to be watched when your performance at home is exactly the same is not worth the pay. Granted most of my circle is debt free so bills do not factor in. But choosing to even quit work and not buy a camp or go on a few less vacations is a real thing. Is there any way your positions could be done remote?
Ive been applying to remote jobs, cant even get a call back.
Have you considered applying for jobs that you actually have to show up to?

So every single job out there should start at this? What? All HS kids, part time workers, etc. should have this pay? None lower?
I mean, I’m not a big advocate for mandates like this but…we are on the same page that we are ultimately subsidizing those lower wages through all kinds of taxes to support keeping them fed, clothed, housed, having access to schools etc…instead of the Walmart or Burger King Human Resources department, we just have government programs filling the gaps as we aren’t trying to see the vast number of employees not being paid enough to survive… no?
And I’ll point out that many that oppose livable wages do pine very aggressively for a time when a single wage would carry a household and a summer job paired with part time during the school year could make a substantial dent in your college tuition.

Isn’t Kamala Harris the one that said you don’t have to work to receive money?

People apply for a job to qualify for Biden Bucks and fail to show up for the interview. If we’re going to throw away money, why not give more “stimulus” to people that prove they can hold a job.
This plus 1,000. About every other week I help another manager with interviews, all on zoom. It blows my mind how many people do even log on for the interview. And half of the ones that do get on are sitting in a recliner or just laid out on the couch. People don’t really want to work right now

Nearly 200,000 people are losing federal unemployment this weekend, after Gov. John Bel Edwards ended the pandemic assistance 5 weeks early in a deal struck with GOP lawmakers to moderately raise state jobless aid in 6 months (from

If service staff were paid anywhere close to the standard minimum wage (along with keeping tips)...that would probably take care of a lot of this.
Just for Southeastern states...the tipped minimum wages are:
Alabama - $2.13/hr
Arkansas - $2.63/hr
Florida - $5.63/hr
Georgia - $2.13/hr
Kentucky - $2.13/hr
Louisiana - $2.13/hr
Mississippi - $2.13/hr
Missouri - $5.15/hr
North Carolina - $2.13/hr
South Carolina - $2.13/hr
Tennessee - $2.13/hr
Texas - $2.13/hr

Which I will be able to do with my increased wages.
When minimum wages increase, everyone's wages increase. With more money in the hands of the public, more products are purchased. When more products are purchased, demand increases driving more production, jobs, etc. When people actually get past their greed and the "me, me, me" attitudes of inept business leaders, they start to learn the actual business practices that created the greatest economy the world has ever seen after WWII.

Supply and demand. Pay more and you’ll get the workers you need.
Yes, I’m aware this is inflation but inflation is already happening. If my salary doesn’t go up then I consider that to be a pay cut at this point.

My son is moving out in a couple of weeks and starting school. He’s been sending job applications out like gangbusters and has zoom and in-person interviews scheduled out to ying-yang over the next week. At least for those wanting the work there are opportunities a-plenty. Hell, when was the last time an 18 year old kid had a dozen job offers to choose from? This is a golden opportunity for some people and at least one business will be getting a hard worker because my boy is no slouch.

I don’t get it.
So basically they were just pushing claims through. We still get them even now. Some from people that stopped working before the pandemic. We flag the bs ones, not all companies look into their shite with that much detail.
Add in the fed unemployment, stimulus, no evictions and people already getting the handouts they were previously getting.
