Why doesn't Yellow Cab just integrate an app so people can receive a similar service and ease of use for your company?
I bet if you still weren't stuck in the stone ages you might reap some considerable benefits by modernizing the taxi ordering experience.
Wait, I just described competition. You don't like competition...do you?

The taxi problem in baton rouge as everyone claims that is prob 20% yellow cab fault and 80% public. I drive for yellow cab and let me tell ya I waste more time going to pick someone up who called for a cab but went back in the bar and didn't hear their phone ringing. We have to do a call out from our terminal in the cab wait 3 minutes then call dispatch if no one showed. Dispatch then call cust 3-5 times if no answer they leave message. The biggest problem is honesty. When the driver takes a call form dispatch all the info is sent to us pickup location name and destination. Never fails if driver pulls up and your not outside then the person that is will walk to that driver and ask who he is there to get. Drivers says name and person will say oh yea that's me. You just lost your cab. The other thing is you call for cab your buddy says just come ride with us and that person doesn't call back and cancel. Now if I do this 6 times in one night that is a min 30 min I have wasted on running around for nothing.
go frick yourself with this bull shite. I have been left outside a bar waiting on a cab by BR yellow cab 1000 times without a phone call from the operator to listen to any of this.
Uber does not have this problem because they have a working app, sorry you have competition in your profession but that is capitalism. Get better
solid troll alter though

You work for a shite company. Good work trying to back them up but for the consumer, yellow cab doesn't get the job done.

You know what Uber and Yellow Cab in BR have in common?
Right now no cars are available.
BOOM!

The taxi union in NOLA has completed limited their liability when it comes to customer's safety. They have lobbied and gotten protection. They are only liable for 50K. That is it. Last year during Mardi Gras, a friend of mine was in cab that got rear ended by another cab. The cab driver fell asleep. The passenger had a broken ankle. My friend's back wound up like a question mark. She thougth she was going to be ok, since United was at fault. Um no, like I said before, 50K was the maximum she got. She lost her job. So the advocates saying the cabs are needed for customer's safety is bull crap.

If you run into your coworker, Sam at Yellow Cab, ask him if he could look for my phone in his cab please.

The reason that is they learned that good tips lead to being picked up a more sure thing.

So what if I don't rely on a cab and I just need it a few times a year? I can't really be a "regular." So am I just screwed because you assume I won't tip well?

With his bitchy arse post, I'm thinking he got fired from Uber and is stuck driving for yellow and probably hates it.

That was all on the drivers end. Now for the consumer end. Background checks those are a joke for that click this link LINK.
The public fear angle never gets old.
Good thing there is a digital record of who is going where in what car, unlike hailing cabs on the street.

My friends called yellow cab for a ride on Saturday night from the Bulldog. Waited for an hour and no cab showed up.

Used Uber again on Saturday night. Picked me up around Coursey area and took me downtown. From requesting the car, being picked up and dropped off it took about 20-25 minutes. Same on the way back at around 1:30am. First car was a Ford Fusion and second was Accord. Both clean and drivers were friendly.
I will say I did see a few more cabs than usual driving down 3rd street at about 130am. Guess they have to now.
