You can't just say what the purpose of doing something is and expect that to make the something you're doing automatically okay.

What if I take to city alleys and start filming myself drop kicking dumpster kittens and posting it to social media, but I say it's a form of protest to bring awareness to animal cruelty? You think people offended by my kitten punting are going to say "Oh, you know, I thought it was disrespectful of you to kick cats, but now that you tell me you didn't mean it in a disrespectful way and were just trying to bring awareness to something, I'm okay with it"?

If most of the military finds it offensive that people kneel for the national anthem, it's offensive. Whether the people kneeling try to tell you they mean no disrespect to the military or not.

Right. They keep advocating to have a “conversation” about things, but yet all they do is scream at and defame whoever it is that holds a different viewpoint than them like the children they are. It’s absolute insanity that they think what they are doing will bring about any kind of compromise that both sides can agree on.

Explained by who?

Sorry, I just give zero credibility to Kaepernick. Guy was in the verge of being cut and then, with absolutely no catalyst, decided to be a civil rights activist on the largest platform in American culture.

That’s just a little too coincidental for my taste.

Furthermore, since everyone is being told that we can’t have opinions on things since It’s impossible to understand how another perceives things, then this should apply equally to Brees’ perception of National Anthem. Your opinion is invalid because you can’t understand his perception.

You need to stop talking and start listening.

Do what they want and get on your knees or you’re a racist. Pretty cut and dry.

And he obviously doesn't agree with that, so what is the Twitter mob justified in doing next?

Getting his sponsorships revoked?

Getting him cut from the team?

Setting the Superdome on fire?

Killing innocent people in a riot?

How much outrage is a football players opinion worth?

It's worse than not being able to state your opinion.

You can't even state FACTS and STATISTICS to completely destroy the "all blacks are the paragons of virtue and all whites are the devil" narrative.

Consider for a second that maybe, just perhaps, it means something different to him. A veteran, black person, recent immigrant, politician, etc all see that flag and conjure up a variety of feeling and emotions. And none would be wrong for it.

Everyone keeps saying that it’s not about the flag and anthem. Whenever you choose to protest during the anthem - which is a time for reverence to the flag - then you are 100% making about the flag/anthem. You can’t do one thing and just say that it means another.

Kneel during player intros
Kneel during timeouts
Kneel during pre game warm ups
Post daily videos on social media to your hundreds of thousands of followers
Lead community outreach

Those that kneel during the anthem have already stated that they do it because the flag represents a country that allows and condones racism. That sentiment is false.

I think people should have a right to kneel during the anthem if they so choose, but I’ll always view it as disrespectful to the flag

Only problem with your take is much, if not most of what is getting backlash is the proper thing to espouse...ALL lives mattering and having respect for your country that your forefathers bled to keep liberated and strong.

One has to be a complete bottom feeding imbecile to find negativity in those views. Yet fricking mindless morons like you are defending(maybe yourself as well) are calling basic statements of civility bigoted and ignorant. Buy a damned mirror or clue somewhere. Either will point to the lack of reason or intellect to be found in this debate.

The national conversation might be the most annoying stuff out there. The thing is, we know each others positions, we just disagree. It's not like we don't understand each other, IMO we do, it's that we understand each other perfectly well and then make our decisions and take action based on that understanding. That leads to a darker conclusion than people want to admit though and so we just go back to talking about this discussion that has no beginning and somehow no end.

Imagine how it feels to post views that aren't conservative here.

It doesn't bother me. My right to speech is not taken away from here. My right to speech is not nullified because other people disagree or whatever.

Learn to accept that we all have the right to say what we want and anyone else can respond how they feel.

It's more than that now. They are weaponizing silence by saying it's complicit. So get ready for even more accusations of racism when someone or some organization decides to stay out of the fray.
