The saddest part of everything going on is one can't state their opinion without backlash

You see it everywhere today, if you speak your opinion that goes against the vocal minority you more than likely will face repercussions. Look at Drew Brees he is hated by people in his own city, where he donates time and money because he had a different opinion on a topic. I bet more people would be willing to bring up/discuss facts and statics of the police brutality issue based on race if they weren't scared of the repercussions. I would love to see an honest discussions between the 2 sides to discuss the statistical data and if they think the data is insufficient how can it be improved. People have effectively learned to silence anyone who disagrees with them without the use of physical force and it is crazy to see. Hopefully the country can get start having open conversations without the worry of repercussions for your thoughts.

You can absolutely state your opinion. If it aligns with the left.

I would love to see Drew Brees and Lebron James have a one-on-one televised debate on the matter.

What's even more sad, is that he didn't really have a different opinion on the matter... just a different preference on conveying that opinion. Insanity.

Not me. All it would be is Lebron talking over Drew calling him a racist for X amount of time.

Leftists see the data that says blacks are arrested, pulled over, shot at, etc at higher rates than others then they turn their brain off.
There's no point in analyzing or thinking why. They already KNOW why.. And nothing you say, do, or present to them is going to change their mind.

I'll admit I'm use to it as a civil service employee I'm not allowed to truly express my opinions. That's why I do it on here since there is at least "some" animosity.
anonymity I mean

Yep. I would bet money on it if a high ranking official or CEO came out and said I don't see statistical data backing the claim that police brutality is more prevalent among minorities he would instantly have to resign. Instead of conversation being had with both sides showing what they believe is arguments for their stance.

Bad, unpopular opinions have always had backlash. Society is constantly changing and that is part of it.
Sorry you can't say bigoted, ignorant shite anymore without repercussions.

Lol. Brees was a dumbass for saying that right now. He’s smart enough where he would probably tell you he had a lapse in judgement. The engine is running hotter than a boiling kettle, you don’t just grab it bare-handed.

The hell I can't.

Yup. If anyone says something along the lines of social media being shut down they say "Wake up, the government is trying to suppress free speech, take away my rights, blah blah". But then if someone says something they don't agree with, they rally to get that person fired or their business shut down. How's that for suppressing free speech?
The hypocrisy of the left is astonishing.

What did Drew say that fits any of the above description?

Everything he said was ignorant because he made it about the military. It's been explained countless times what the purpose of kneeling for the anthem was. He showed he didn't want to hear that and make it into his own thing.

Calling someone a racist in 2020 is usually just an attempt to silence them when you have no other argument.
It's why every Republican president is labeled as a racist today whether there's any evidence or not. The next Republican presidential candidate will be labeled the same early on.

How exactly is pointing out that the data doesn’t support the narrative “ignorant”?

He just said he doesn't agree with it because of what the flag means to him. I believe he is saying he agrees with the cause but doesn't agree with the time/place/way they were trying to convey the message.

That’s not new though. Social media makes voices louder but that’s always been the case. Think about how many people were blacklisted as communists during the 50s for the slightest comments
