Only on the OT where the truth can be downvoted. I would be agreeing with everyone if my dogfood had indeed risen in price- but it hasnt. Just the truth.

35lbs of Blue Buffalo went from $40 to $65 at Costco

I think I buy that Pedigree can food. It was 7.99 for a 12 pack pre covid. It’s 19.99 now. More than doubled.

My wife has an animal science degree so she demands we get the best and it’s fricking ridiculous.
2 dogs on 2 different foods and the 2 cats on another
Science Diet for older dog has gone from $46 per 35 lb bag to $68
Purina Pro Plan for young boxer has gone from $45 per 35 lb bag to $70
Science Diet for the cats has gone from $30 per bag to $50
It’s just dumb that I go to the store, buy 3 bags of food and it’s $200.

You’re right. I just looked it up. Might be time to consider a switch

Wonder if that article takes into account shrinkflation as well.
The brand I buy at Sam's went up in price by 35% or so and at the same time shrunk from a 55 pound bag to a 48 pound bag.
Yeah dog food is a small fraction of my monthly budget, but it's not like it's the only thing that's skyrocketed in the last 2 years. I need a huge cost of living raise at work just to get back to what I could afford in 2021.

This isn’t as much attributable to ‘natural’ inflation as it is to corporate greed. Most of the names mentioned here (royal canin, pedigree, eukanuba) are all Mars products. Purina is Nestle.
It’s giant billion dollar companies seeing how much they can get away with while the consumer still pays. And so far they are proving people love their pets enough to do it.

If buying dog food is breaking you then you probably shouldn't have a dog

Correct the price increases of everything have been insane. But few common, everyday goods like dog food. Snack foods is another product grouping that has exploded in pricing. Many are owned by large conglomerates much like pet food (nestle, móndelez, Kelloggs, Mars). They are simultaneously posting record profits. Only the consumer is being punished.

Diamond Naturals was recommended by the breeder I used. It has been an excellent food. My dog's coat regularly gets compliments and his health has been great. He just started to develop some fatty cysts(I had them checked-benign) but he's about to be 9, so maybe just age.

Maybe….. don’t have a pet?

I switched recently. $17 bag now costs $28. But ole pup seems to like the $13 brand just fine, bless him.

I’m learning you should make your dog work for everything you do.

Same with us, our smallest dog just diagnosed and placed on prescription Hill's Science K/D food. $50 bucks for an 8.5 lb bag. I had no idea this was a thing. He's my buddy and I'll do what it takes.
We started feeding the two healthy, younger dogs cooked chicken instead of canned dog food, along with their kibble. Takes a little effort to cook, cut up and store in the fridge but they seem to appreciate it.

It's all bs. Just feed them the cheap stuff. You aren't keeping them alive any longer. If you have a purebred, which is why most people buy designer food, they aren't going to be around that long anyway and will end up having a number of ailments, regardless of what you feed them. It's all a big scam.
