There’s no way to spot reduce fat. All you can do is tighten up your diet and increase exercise. At 43, your skin should shrink, but you’ll likely (without surgery) always have a small spare tire (without an extreme diet).

Eat less, move more. Targeted fat loss is a myth.
Personally, I have had my best results walking 4-5 miles a day and doing 6-8 workouts (3 sets of 5-10 reps and one burnout exercise) 3 to 4 times a week. I only keep fruits, meats, and veggies at home, and allow myself a nice "going out day" once every two weeks to get some wings. No fried food, and my body holds weight different on carbs so I try to avoid those as well though I fricking love bread. I'm down to 229-231 from 245 since late Feb.

Not sure about you but about a month or so after cutting way back on my alcohol intake I developed a "sweet tooth."

Gawd damn son, I just saw this. That's literally a pound of week in just beer, much less the damage you're doing to your liver and wallet.

Planks help. Especially side planks.
It'll help pull the front in if the aides are tighter.
Good for your lower back support too

Cardio is important to burn calories but more efficient for cardiovascular health. Lifting weights burns more calories than cardio due to continued muscle growth. Cardio (speed walking is a great exercise) 3x/week. Weight lifting 5x/week.

Seriously try a clean hardcore keto.
Steak, fish, hamburger meat, eggs, butter. MCT oil.
broccoli, asparagus.
It's not hard if you control your own food. Family, kids etc. can make it harder.
It's like magic..... if you are disciplined.

I commend you on quit drinking.
I think if I wouldn't drink I would be able to obtain my fitness goals. But I like beer and I also bust my arse every weekday dieting and hitting the gym.
So there's that. Congrats

Low carb, high protein diet. Intermittent fasting. Increasing calorie burn by steps/playing with kids, anything but sitting and vacuuming (sucking your gut in as far as you can and holding it, then repeat as often as you think about it.)
I've always done that. It works to increase resting tone and tighten things up.
Increasing my non exercise activities and intermittent fasting is where I really drop it and don't even feel like I'm doing anything. When I'm busy, I don't eat or drink. Most of my shite eating and drinking comes out of boredom.

Going cold turkey from drinking a six pack or more per night is impressive.

Sure Chef, 40% of Americans are obese because they eat too many grapes and bananas.

Maybe try some of those crunch exercises using only a chair like in those annoying FB ads.

Good for you. I'm trending in this direction.
