I watched a YouTube video of an exterminator in Australia who went to a farm to deal with a rat infestation. He had a pellet rifle with a night vision scope and he killed over 500 rats. It was crazy how many there were and he didn’t get all of them.
It’s a little long but cool to watch.

Daisy powerline 880 with scope. Confirmed will kill squirrels efficiently.

I bought an air shotgun which I killed squirrels that were moving into my attic. It shoots a small shell with shot but also you can shoot 22 cal pellets. Both killed squirrels and I would think would take care of rats.
The shot shells are only lethal for about 50 feet but you don't have to worry about it damaging your neighbor's stuff.

I live in a fairly wooded area and I have been hunting at our camp out in the middle of nowhere for over 35 years and I have only seen a rat for the first time in my life Friday. I saw something deep in my back yard and it was a rat carcass missing its head.
