Yats add an r and drop an r when they say Auburn - Arbun.

I like hearing the NO accent. Reminds me of family and good friends.

Me too. It’s how I learned how to talk. I lost the accent in my early teens but whenever I go back it doesnt take long to slip back into it

I mispronounce court, park, and egg all the time. Cawt, powk, and ayg.

Jawn instead of John

Adding syllables to words or even extra words in a sentence “open up the garage doe-wah”

Same but with my Cajun accent. I had it bad when I first moved to north Louisiana and lost it a bit. It’s all but disappeared since I’ve been in Kansas. Still have it when I pronounce some words or if I get to talking fast though.

I drop my "rs" sometimes. (Locka, not locker, feva, not fever). I do catch it and try to stop myself, though. I have finally trained myself to pronounce water as wah-ter and not "war-ter", so...small steps.

One color they can’t say correctly is orange. It’s not just New Orleans either.

My favorite posts in this thread are the ones posting shite that could be heard in any black community across the country. There’s a huge difference between hood lingo and the shite my parents and grandparents who grew up in Broadmoor say.
