One in three students believe that using violence to stop campus speech is acceptable, with 2% deeming it 'always acceptable', 13% 'sometimes acceptable', and 19% 'rarely acceptable'.
The survey included over 68,000 students from 257 colleges.
54% of students find it acceptable to block attendance at a campus speech.
From the CollegeFix

That sample size seems pretty decent. So, 35% of survey respondents are not responsible or well adjusted. Let that sink in. That's 23,800 people at 257 different colleges that are willing to use some level of violence to prevent speech.

At the single family computer for a few hours here and there but otherwise spending time outside playing. Phones and social media and constant access to the internet is not a good or healthy thing for humans.

Just out of curiosity, where were you when you posted this? At work? In class?

Yes, our obsession with social media is to blame.

But here’s the catch: responsible, well-adjusted people can handle that. They can see nonsense online and move on with every day life. The problem is the small minority who can’t. People with no self-accountability, weak values, lacking support systems, and/or have fragile identities. That group, mixed with the constant drip of divisive media propaganda, is what’s broken society.
Wrong...social media companies have algorithms that are constantly working and powered by AI with the sole purpose to getting you addicted and engaged more and more. Our brains (the general pubic) is no match for these systems. It's advancing too fast.

While the underlying premises are accurate, I disagree with your conclusion. Our brains designed these systems. Our brains can absolutely devise ways to control, defy, ignore them, if we wish. We are also still 100% capable of discernment, if properly trained and practiced.

Instead of exposing us to different viewpoints, it’s pushed many deeper into their own comfortable online bubble.

My step-dad watches ai made conspiracy videos on YouTube when he's not watching FOX News. I mean 90% of his time since he's retired, doesn't even play his grandkids anymore.

A lot of the content on this site is a perfect microcosm of what causes people to detach from reality.

Assume you also mean TV news hose pipe (of choice, Fox News or CNN, etc al)

Commercial political machine whips people into a frenzy. Blood on its hands.

Don’t let it manipulate you. Unplug and go for long walk, smell a flower, wave to an elderly person, feed a duck, lick a door knob…whatever it takes.

from being online all the time. too much social media too many online games too many message boards (oh the irony) not enough real life, real world, real human interaction. And sadly it's only going to get worse

Before my Dad Retired from his company last year, a 19 year old applied for a job.

One his application under the skills, certifications , etc part he put:
- Can text (however many words) per minute.
- Had reached a certain level on some online game
- Can drive and watch videos online and has never wrecked.

Was it a joke? Who knows? My Dad did take the application from him personally though.

But if real that is crazy.

I think the PT board here (and obviously everywhere else) is out of hand. I don't care if I get downvoted into oblivion. I am a big proponent of online anonymity, but I think online political discourse would be a lot more civil if you had to use your real name.

I don't know. I only see it anecdotally as a father of two young kids, but myself, my wife, and all of our friends are pushing back on our kids using technology.
