My point was largely around extremes.

I actually took a look at Dallas records recently. Let’s look at August as an example (31 days). Records go back to 1898.

For 22 of the 31 days, the record high has occurred since 2000.

For 0 of the 31 days, the record low has occurred since 2000.

But yes the warming trend is even more pronounced in the winter months, especially when you look at trends in morning lows.

Yes they can. Parents are just soft. Kids are resilient.

I love when climate truthers play this card when they don't know(whether willingly or not) that written temperature records have only been kept for about 150 years.

It's disingenuous AF.

I’m 37, I distinctly remember days that I had to mow the lawn being at least 20 degrees hotter on average, than the days I hung out outside with my friends, riding my bike around the neighborhood and stuff.

We're going into the 3rd week or June. It's supposed to be hot. It has been an extremely pleasant summer so far in Mississippi with the heat just now ramping up a level. In 1 week the people who work in it have acclimated.

My 4 year old and his buddies play outside all day, never have seen this imminent threat of heat stroke like you anecdotally insist is now happening all over the place.

Do you know what has always been able to actually kill you? Cold temperatures, and it doesn't take much to do it. You don't acclimate to the cold, you just die from it.

You're getting older and less able to adjust to extreme temperatures, and you spend the majority of your life in climate controlled conditions - of course you'd think it's apocalyptically hot.

But if you think giving the government and her corporate oligarch owners more money is the way to "fix" this acute problem, then go off. I say you need to calm down; you're acting like your mother.

My son spent 90% of the weekend outside.... after a few hours he would indicate he was ready for a break..would cool off for 30 and start begging to go outside again. His face got a little flushed and he sweat...nothing cool water and shade didn't fix...I don't know where you're getting this

None of this has anything to do with my post.

I was responding to someone who believed that last summer was generally mild, with only the southeastern US experiencing abnormally high temperatures. That was false and the facts bear that out.

Some are about as all in in denying it as some are in saying its so. All I know is it was hotter than hell this weekend...my 25 year old son, who works indoors, and my 30 year old niece's husband, who doesn't work at all and my 58 year old arse were sweating like whores in church by 10 AM remodeling the niece's house. It may have been hotter doing the same thing 10, 20, hell 1000 years ago, but it was damn sure hot THIS past weekend doing it....I know, I know, temperature and humidity have nothing at all to do with temperature and humidity unless you are toeing one parties line or the other...but no matter which party you find pretty it was hotter than 2 rats fricking in a wool sock this weekend....

You aren't allowed to talk about heat, hot weather, heatwaves, or temperatures in general.

Or, ya know......you can just wholesale ignore the thermometer and make up whatever you want.

Somehow, we survived though.

There will be those who will say it ain't so and its only science so it may or may not be so BUT acclimation is supposedly a thing....probably all bunk science put out by the CHICOMs but the theory is that, if you have to be outside during extreme weather, hot or cold, it is best to do so for short periods of time until the body becomes accustomed to the extremes

Anecdotally I lived with a family in North Alabama during the summer of 1992 and they did not have AC in their house. I was accustomed to AC. I liken to have died for about 2 weeks and then, no doubt through some sort of Chinese trickery foisted on me by some sort of black magic, got to the point that I could tolerate sleeping at night with the windows open and a fan on....even needed blanket toward morning. Thank god the chinese stepped in....I am certain that I would be dead now if it weren't for their intervention.....

The same thing happened to me the first winter I hunted ducks and geese in the PNW. I liken to have froze slap to death....and gradually got to where I could tolerate even the coldest days in the duck blind. Again, the commies had to have had a roll in it...there just can't possibly be anything to the concept of acclimating to weather conditions.....eerybody knows all science is a commie plot to allow the trans folks to take over and give us all the gay.....

Maybe your overweight, never gets off the couch, hands crusted with dried sugar kid can’t. Mine have zero problems with being outside for any amount of time.

Because most of their time is spend indoors playing a video game or watching tv. They are not acclimated to warm weather.

This. Your body evolves and adapts to the environment that it's used to. That's why people of London are in red alert over what we would consider moderate heat levels and how people in the far North laugh at us when we close schools after just a few inches of snow(sometimes the mere presence).

Heat waves in Europe kill a heap more people than they do in the US because most of Europe has no AC. In 2022 19% of homes in Europe had AC while 90% of homes in the US had it. The same is true of commercial spaces....a HUGE number of restaurants and bars and hotels in Europe do not have AC because they just do not need it, or did not until the commies stepped in and mind fricked everyone into thinking its slightly warmer now than it was just a decade or so ago.....

Considering the shite the commies have been able to pull off it is a miracle they ain't done took over the world completely.....hell they have about 1/3 of Americans thinking there ain't no climate change and about 1/3 thinking there ain't no way the climate hasn't changed and about 1/3 thinking nothing at all about the subject....that is some masterful mind fricking going on right there....

but you can't go off of just extremes.

if get in a time machine and pick any random arse day in August any year, and the temp will be more than likely be roughly the same no matter the year.

sure any given year it's possible that day may be a record high, or even a record low.
but odds are, they'll all be pretty similar.

if you want to go through dates inhibitory, here is a link.
you can pick whatever day you want and then shuffle through the years.

Wunderground

August 15th for example:
1978 was significantly hotter than 2023.
but most years fall within a degree or two of the 97° historical average for that day.

Note: pay attention to the rainfall totals for each day/year, because heavy rainfall amounts drop the high temp quite drastically.

It’s 40 this am in Missoula. Feels good man.

No shite...ain't a better place in the US to spend the summer than that area...but it can and does get damned hot and the lack of AC is suddenly something to take note of. I worked in Idaho Falls from about mid August through mid September about 5 years ago and it would be swamp arse hot one day and snowing the next...in August and September. It was actually pretty damned interesting....instead of just damned hot and humid all the time.
