That will be me tomorrow night.

Leaving Saturday to go to New Zealand and Australia with my oldest daughter.

But it's a long trip with lots of logistics and moving parts and MILES of travel involved.

It's not the same as the night before heading out for a lazy week on the beach on the Emerald Coast -- now THAT'S a VACATION.

It's absolute chaos here too not because wife and daughters procrastinate wife just loses her mind that night - it doesn't ease up until we are through security

You have the word “like” in your family motto?

FFS just go and relax wherever we are people, I’ll cook some steaks we can drink everything will be great. Either in the mountains, lake, river, beach, this applies to all scenarios.
meh. Not everyone likes hanging around a rental house all day and not having any plans is a good way to make sure you don’t get to do a lot of things you traveled for.

Bingo. Once through security it’s like the weight of the world drops off my shoulders and I know I can get into a vacation frame of mind

The night before vacations is usually chaos in our house. The wife and daughter are major procrastinators on packing.

And when they do pack it's like they are moving to another home and not heading out for a week away from home.

Banff Alberta

We are going there next June for our 20th anniversary trip, gonna fly into Calgary, visit there, then head over to Banff and then to Golden, B.C. to visit and stay w/my mum's life-long best friend.

Let me know how it goes. I really can't wait, Banff looks like Heaven on Earth.

Doing this now. Sitting in Golden about to pack up for the ride to Jasper. Yeah it’s nice up here to say the least.

But the afternoon/night before you leave is awesome. Everything packed,

You and I travel very differently. The day/night before any trip is always a massive clusterfrick of cleaning and packing for me.

My anxiety says hell no. I’m a mess before vacation and until we finally arrive and settle in. I hate it but I figure it will never change at this point.

It's dumb, but I am usually more excited to be on the way than to be where we're going. I gotta fix that to some extent.

Then you remembered you didn't turn off your curling iron and had to go back.

Always love the night before a vacation. Second favorite is the day we get back and get in our own bed.

I always schedule the day after we return off so I get to relax and prep for the coming week

The night before having to go back to work after vacation sucks. That’s the night I’m in right now.
