Saw some nerd on twitter yesterday posted a video of random waves going over a seawall in Hawaii. He said it was all because of global warming. A dozen surfers chimed in and said it wasn't an unusual happening and it was because of a normal condition happening in the Pacific. OF course he told them they were all wrong and we only had a few years left on the planet

The temperature sucks but the lack of rain we’ve had in Texas is more concerning… sprinklers are getting a workout this summer.

My city set 7 temperature records in June and is on pace to set 5 in July and the hottest average temperature for the month of June since they been keeping temps.

So fricking what? It's cooler than normal here in my city. In the south.

Bunch of goddamn emotional women in this thread.

They do this same nonsense in the winter. Weather is all hype now has been for 20 years.

Sad when some idiot who is old enough to know better starts embracing the hype and talking about how the weather is SOOO different today.

News does this yearly. Anywhere in the world at any given week there is extreme weather. That’s not new or news worthy but it helps a narrative and triggers emotional people.

I heard Houston had the hottest June on record and might have the highest July also. It has topped 100 nearly every day lately and they said the 10 day forecast reflects 100+ for every day (1st time ever).

There is an official USGS temperature station in Flatonia, TX along I-10 between San Antonio and Houston. (They pick these sites to avoid the heat island effect of large cities because concrete and asphalt tends to absorb solar radiation and retain it better than natural topography.) Here are the trendline temperatures for Flatonia, TX for the months of June and July:

A slight downward trend but not much.

Yep.
HOA's: We are in drought conditions please only water your lawns twice a week on these specified days. Also if we see one brown blade of grass you are getting a nastygram and threat of a fine.

Have they ever thought that maybe it's all the concrete in the cities causing the temps to rise in those cities? Towns and cities are 2 to 4 degrees hotter than my yard in the country.

The graphic was f'd up so I deleted it.

The bottom line is hot weather in July is not unprecedented.

With the amount of people bitching about it on here daily, apparently no one knew that.

They are aware - it's called the urban heat island effect.
