Turn 60 at the end of the year having go wrong with me.
For some reason I have a 2nd molar that has cracked. I take of my teeth.
Also now that I’ve lost weight it’s more noticeable than when I was 30.. I can actually feel a difference.

When I hit 60 (8 years ago). Realized I’m half way through the back 9.

I very unexpectedly lost my sister who was a year older than me when I was 11, my Dad when I was 21, another sister when I was 35, and mom when I was 40. Death will come like a thief in the night so I wake up everyday realizing it could be my last. I am 52 and have 4 sons from 5 years old to 19! I work hard and play hard. At holy Mass every Sunday and on weekdays when I can! Life is Great!!! I try not to worry about what is ahead or behind because I can’t change either!!

Right now I am having these thoughts of just how quick the past 20 years has gone.. Think back 20 years then try to imagine 20 years from now and its mind blowing to me. I am 47 and likely have lived more than the time I have left.

In my mid-40’s, I went to a job interview in New York and woke up in a hospital where I was informed that I was the sole survivor of the Eastrail 177 train wreck that killed all other 131 people on board.

if you’re 20 years old, it would be weird if you contemplated your own death on a regular basis
by the time you reach 60, it would be weird if your didn’t
i’m 64

As he said, the 3 we got were more than we ever expected.
Another is just extra icing on the cake.
Priorities- none of this noise means anything in the Life of the Spirit. All just matters of the conflict with the flesh.

Hitting 50 years old. You realize that most likely you are well past half way.
Hit 40 and all my hair turned grey, started having neck problems.
Turned 50 last year and was told I have AVN in my right hip that with one day require hip replacement. Did a stress test at a physical that then required me to do a heart cath. Everything good but scare non the less.
On a side note my grandfather is 101, one of his brothers lived to 94 and one of his sisters lived to 97. My other grand parents were 70s/early 80s.

pretty much now... i'm 43... realistically, i'm past half way, at this point... i've thought about what it must feel (or not feel, at all) to die peacefully... like in your sleep... dunno... i think about what it will be like in about 10 years when both the kids are out the house, in college/at work, and then there's no more homework, school events, etc...
it's sorta macabre, but i think we all question our mortality, at some point

couple months after my 40th birthday, I had a heart attack.
found out that day I have a hereditary heart condition and was only a matter of time before it happened. I was fortunate in that is wasn't a major attack.
have had 3 procedures since then, so I "should be" good, but who the hell knows.

What does your family history suggest? Do you have 85+ year old aunts, uncles, or cousins? And are you taking care of yourself with regular doctor visits and/or seeking medical attention if something seems "off?"
Stay hopeful, and spend all the time you can with the grandkids. Though it is all up to God, pardon my use of a cliche when I say "be all you can be" with those kids so that when He calls you home, they will have great memories of you/with you.
Both my grandfathers died before I was born, so I was unable to have those relationships. That's why I spend lots of time and do all I can for my 3 g'sons.

The first time you ask about a HS classmate and learn he died.

In my late 20s. I was a believer that my purpose in life was set, and that is why I survived so many things that should have killed me.
Then a friend of mine was killed at work doing the same thing I would have been doing during a training exercise had I not left just before then to go back to the office.
I then realized I was embracing textbook survivors fallacy. I previously survived out of pure randomness and that if I kept making the same decisions and taking the same risks, my regression to the mean would be sudden and I would not even know it happened.
