Social security fights are going to get so filthy over the next 20 years. Everyone's getting fricked no matter what.

I knew social security wasn't going to be viable before I graduated from college.

Stop going to 30A and funding 6 year BA degrees for your spawn, and you won't eat cat food when you're old.

Now that you're back, I get why you were banned.

I thought the same thing in 1985 when I graduated. In 2.5 years I will be eligible to get that gov't cheese

If I was able to invest my own money that I pay into social security, I’d have a whole lot more money when I retired.

Kick the can, pretend like the problem isn't there... I'd expound more, but I don't want to be the excuse to get this moved to the Poli board. I didn't graduate high school too long after you.

Most of us would, but communism is about wealth redistribution, not pragmatism.

ETA: SS will not run out of money, they’ll just keep raising the age of eligibility until more people die before ever collecting a dime, no problem.

I wonder what those numbers would look like with those 100’s of billions that were sent to Ukraine injected into the SS fund?

Ever question why they want to reduce the population?

Any healthy working American born past 1980 planning to retire on SS is an absolute moron. Even my high school teachers in the 90s were telling us this was going to happen and to save as much as possible.

True....
But I think the more realistic outcome will be means testing SS.
i.e. reducing benefits to the "wealthy" based on their other assets like 401k's, investments, home equity, etc.

It's already been floated by some Dems...
