Hmmmm? I wonder who knows more about the facts of the case?
Read Chaos and you'll find that Tom O'Neill does.

Bugliosi prosecuted and sent them all to Death Row. Bugliosi forgot more about this case than O'Niell thinks he knows.

Read the book and find out out for yourself. I've read both.

Bugliosi prosecuted and sent them all to Death Row. He knows details that were never revealed to the public.

Bugliosi was caught in more than one lie about this case when it didn’t fit his narrative .
Oneil’s book is fantastic

Manson was on probation and not reporting. If the State had done their job and thrown him back in jail those people would have lived.
———————————————————
During Oneil’s book, Manson’s full criminal history with arrests ( mostly federal crimes ) was shown to a federal agent without his name . His response was … whoever this guy is he has connections or they want him out of jail

When I lived Uptown in the late 90’s/early 2000’s I used to walk by & look at that door on the front of Reznor’s Nothing Studios. You couldn’t touch it but it was insane to be that close to where they actually wrote PIG in blood. Some doctor bought the building & renovated it. I would love to know where that door went to & where it is now. I wonder if Trent still has it.

A book called Chaos is now considered the definitive piece on the subject.
By Joe Rogan fans, maybe. Tom O'Neil clearly isn't a Bugliosi fan but Helter Skelter is still a very accurate book.

Such as? Bugliosi had to create the Helter Skelter narrative to get a conviction. But it doesn't mean that it didn't happen. Several of Manson's closest followers confirmed that Manson was "preaching" about the upcoming race war. They weren't in Death Valley when they were arrested for nothing.

That's why Manson left San Francisco....too much competition. Not that LA wasn't also infested with cult leaders too.

Neal Armstrong walks on the moon (allegedly), Tate/Labianca murders, and Woodstock all happened within one month of each other in Summer of '69 (great song by Bryan Adams).

If Manson was "coming up today", he'd be a white supremacist, not a progressive liberal. He hated blacks and wanted to start a race war.
And who followed him? Mostly, Leftist trust fund boomer babies with a daddy complex. Hell, even Angela Lansbury's daughter was in the "family".

his following would be among society's current Democrat outcasts
Both sides have a "cult following". I remember in the 90s there was sort of a cult scare. If I recall, I think it was an episode of Boy Meets World that even had an episode about one of the characters getting drawn to a cult, but today we have "mainstream cults" that, IMO, are more dangerous than most small cults throughout the 60s, 70s, 80 and 90s...
The reasons why is that first, they are not be recognized as cults and then the ability to reach more people through social media. Also, I think its people getting behind the same ideas and there isn't really a leader. If anything, the ideas are the leaders. That is just the evolution of any big political or religious structure.
Some will say that religion itself is a cult and I guess you can make the argument that it is, but the sub divisions within religions are more cults than the religions themselves. And in politics you have sub divisions. Each issue has people who rallies around that specific idea more than anything. Its to the point that LGTBQ+ is a cult. Trump is a cult. There is a cult within the anti-gun people and a cult within the pro-gun people..

Terry Melcher for one .
According to the official record from Bugliosi , Melcher last visited Spahn Ranch in May of 69 to tell Charlie he wasn’t talented enough to get a record deal. This pissed Charlie off and he decided at this time to begin his Helter Skelter , kick off the race war bullshite .
The truth is Melcher actually visited Spahn ranch twice after the murders . This defeats the whole purpose of why Charlie went ahead when he did if Melcher is still visiting him .
Also , by perjuring himself on the stand by saying the last time he visited was May …. Melcher could have gotten the death penalty for lying in a capitol case and could have Received the same punishment has the people who were convicted ( death penalty ) which was later abolished in California .
Bugliosi was a certifiable nutcase. He actually claimed the milkman was the father of his kid and had the prosecutors office investigators tail the guy for months . This was in 1968 . He wanted the guy to take a blood test and wouldn’t let up . Eventually he had to pay the guy 12000 dollars for all of his harassment

Here’s a fun video shot in that pool house shortly before it’s demise:
Nine Inch Nails: Gave Up
I haven’t been by in a while, but the door in which they smeared the word “Pig” in blood was on 4500 Magazine Street for quite some time.
Also, Manson was 110% an MK Ultra operative.
