I'm sure he does. He is with the museum in Houston. He does work with the Collings Foundation as well.

I think I may have met him at an airshow, I used to think I wanted get my hands on a Phantom one more time and the Collins baws used to have a flyable one down there, $10k for a 10,000lb. burn, seems like a bargain now, the last time I looked it was $20k

If you stayed out of the AB ( which of course you wouldn’t/couldn’t), what kind of flight time would you be looking at 777?

You may have. I know he was instrumental in putting their F100 back in flyable status. I have friend that was also part of that group. I need to call him and catch up with our lives. The years pass too quickly.

Regarding CAS: I'm assuming the OA-1K is being positioned to replace the A-10?

LOL, if they try to replace the Hog with This, the Army will shite itself in fury. It’d be the end of the Key West Accords, and the Army would immediately seek first class fixed wing CAS birds for their own units. The Army is pissed off enough already with USAF trying to kill the Hog so they can buy more F-35’s . Telling Army “Here’s that CAS we promised” with a cropduster would break the proverbial camel’s back. That fight has been simmering since Air Force managed to get the Cheyenne gunship killed No, this thing is more likely going to do what we used to call “COIN” flying… counter-insurgency stuff against guys running around in Jungles and deserts with AK’s.

lots of pilots shot down in the packs over Vietnam that were rescued were eternally grateful to the A-1 guys, so were their buddies, Skyraider drivers could not pay for drinks in the O clubs if there were fighter pilots in there

Same for the Jolly Green Giant drivers.

I think this is intended for use alongside special forces units and maybe some other small scale operations. Don’t think this is going to be an airframe used on a wide scale.

Well yeah, that’s exactly what it’s designed for. And it’s also the only thing the A-10 has been doing for the past 25 years.

What was wrong with he OV-1 Mohawk or the OV-10 Bronco for filling this role? Either of these aircraft could have been brought back into production with the requisite mods and both of them performed admirably.

Such a burly platform for a prop plane.

Rad bird; much firepower.

Amazing the lengths they’ll go to not just more (and upgraded) A-10s
