Handles to the street they roll them and dump, why give the trash man an extra step of either flipping it around or walking behind it to push it towards the street.

Dumb thread.
Only thing I have to add is that trash service has declined significantly over the last 20 years.
Young WDS remembers being at grandparents house in summers in early 2000's and trash would run twice a week and trash truck had two men riding on back that would hop out and empty can and anything next to it.
Now frickers won't ever get out the truck and if your trash can ain't exactly right, you may even get skipped

This is corrtect.
ppl who leave the handles facing the house are the same worthless trash that leave their buggy in the parking lot.

I have lived almost 87 years and I can truthfully say this is the very first time I have ever given this a moment of thought.
Life comes at you faster all the time.

Christ on a cracker! Do some of you frickers need instructions from the rest of us on how to wipe your arse after a shite?

Our trash service is superb. Two days a week, 2 riders on the back just like you describe.
A few times a year I will tape an envelope to the top of the can (if I can’t catch the team in person) and give them a $20 and tell them (a) Thank You and (b) to grab a beer or powerade after work on me.
I’m super glad those guys do that job!

If you have a grabber arm truck, you'll have a metal horizontal bar on one side of the can (usually on the "open" side of the lid opposite the handles/hinges). That side should face the street.

we have an automated truck, and if you don't put the bin with the lid side toward the road, they won't even stop...

I miss the old days when two dudes would jump off the back of the truck and pick up your cans and dump them.

My g-men in Carrollton pull the can manually to the back of the truck and a tilt lever slips in the groove in the front of the can and empties it in the rear of the truck; basically an old school garbage truck with a tilt assist for the g-men.
There’s no instruction on the can, but the website says to put the can with the lid to the street and the handle to the sidewalk. It doesn’t seem to matter to the g-men, but it seems it would be easier for them if the handle was facing the street.

There is and arrow on the top of the can if that helps

City officials used to say to spray paint a couple of big x’s on the side. And empty.

A well trained wife will also cut the grass, bag the clippings, and place those bags in the trash.

I got caught with my pants down one trash day and was rolling the can out to the road while they waited for me. I sat the trash can with the handles facing the street and the dude maneuvered his arm for me to turn the trash can the other way, where the handles faces away from the street. So that be how I do it now.

At least where I live there is literally an arrow on the can lid so that even morons can figure out which way to point it.
Where does the arrow point? To the street of to the curb? Need to add a little trash truck decal with the arrow.

I have them facing the tailgate of the dually so the lids don't flip open and cause a mess during transport.
