Water from the Amite is currently as far east as the BREC field between ONeal and Millerville

Damn, any guesses if it makes to Millerville tonight/if at all?

Anyone know if U Club an Lexington is okay?

All those neighborhoods seem fine. Bayou Paul and Bayou Manchac around 30 (Nicholson) don't seem like they are going to break their banks. Gauging it visually, Bayou Paul has dropped since late morning.

Eta: Not Bayou Manchac oficially I think, but the canal that runs along Manchac Rd.

And extra foot(ish) is a helluva lot of water over mostly flat land but I think the chance of it making it to Millerville is very, very low. My guess is it will make it about half way from it's current edge to Millerville.

My story:

quote:

We walked about 250 yards in water mid stomach high out of Woodstock subdivision. We took a boat to Morgan/Planchet - then walked in ankle deep water about 1/2 mile. Lastly we took a boat from back creek to Central Thruway. We are thankful to be alive. Our house is probably taking water as we speak. God bless...

I think we were in luck with Ward Creek - that creek must be built amazing that this event didn't flood it bad.

The neighborhoods W of Pecue and S of Perkins are classified "X, protected by levee" on the flood map. This is supposed to put them outside the 100 year flood plain. I'm wondering if it's enough to protect them from this flood. A lot of tributaries that back up from Manchac are near there.

So is this a 500 year flood or something worse? I guess we'll find out. I have a friend whose base flood elevation is 36 in that area.

Most likely yes, last I saw on the news the Amite at Denham Springs was supposed to rise several more feet.

I hope they all get out.

I just drove through Wedgewood subdivision, turned right on O'Neal...O'Neal has about a foot of water on the east side of the road (the left when headed towards George O'Neal). The road had very little water on it. South Harrels Ferry towards Runnels is closed and looks to be flooded by St. Jean apartments.

Took a right on South Harrels Ferry and it is dry. Turned right on Millerville and it is dry. Target parking lot is dry.

It would take a ton more water to threaten this area (in my opinion).
