How up to date is the first link?

I'm thinking they are from the weekend (14th and 15th) based on the dates on the files you could download.

Anyone know how the roads between Baton Rouge and New Orleans are looking? Wondering how practical it would be to go down there and back today/tonight.

Anyone have a link to a good topographic map of EBR? Contour lines down to 5' or less intervals would be great.

Countour map with flood zones
You have to zoom in pretty far, then the contour layer shows up.

I-10 is open. Some of the hospital staff in N.O. drove in from B.R. this morning, and are heading back the same way now.

Does anyone have any hints as to what to cover your face and nose with--like a surgical mask with a piece of incense in it or something to keep from having to smell the inside of my dad's apartment which reportedly smells like hell right now.. As you may imagine. What are people doing for that?

I wish I had a full on gas mask but I don't.

Just took 42 to try to check on MIL's house. Water in road past Joe Sevario. 18 wheeler on its side on the shoulder past 44. Really bad out there. Kids on 4 wheelers said you can't get much farther up the road yet.

Ha. We might know each other. Kennesaw. Based on your description of house location, you might be the guy I gave sand bags to. :-D

Something died in there?

#1 is to get the fridge out. I've seen many people throw up after that rotten juice pours out. I think it makes it worse if you warn them

Otherwise, you get used to the smells

Just in case you don't know, they sell respirators at Home Depot that house painters use when they spray oil based paints. Like $10 to $40 depending on the type.

Whats the current best route from Houston/Lake Charles?
Google maps has been showing since about Monday to exit near Iowa and take 90 and get back on 10 in Lafayette. Is this still true? I havent really heard anything about west of Lafayette so seeing 10 being closed there is just odd.

My husband is trying to get to Lutcher from Lake Charles today, so I'm tagging on to this if anyone has better info.

He plans to catch 190 up near Moss Bluff (you could take I-10 to get there). I think (and I'm not sure but based on piecemeal info) that you might have problems taking 90 because of flooding south of 10 around Lake Arthur, etc. I know Jennings got flooding and that's where I-10 closed in the southwest part of the state.

I know he will have to take 3125 or River Road to Lutcher rather than Airline, but anyone know which route he'll have to take to get to those roads? If he takes 190 all the way to BR, can he catch 110 to 10 to 30 to Gonzales?

I'll never forget cleaning my dads fridge after Gustav. Tree fell on their house right through the middle of the kitchen and bent the fridge doors. shite was going to come out one way of the other.
