There is quite a bit of unacceptable shite going on with gages all throughout the area.
For instance, this is an incredibly relevant gage, but it certainly hasn't been treated as such:
and this one too...
and this one...
I could go on, but you get the idea. If you can't get to the gage for a measurement, or you cannot actually measure it for some reason, don't just settle for a flat reading. That shite can cost lives.
There is almost 20 miles of the Amite River that had non-functioning gauges during the critical time in this disaster. Completely unacceptable and a failure of the USGS.

Power is out all over the place. Entire intersection of 10/highland as far as I could see

I'd guess they mean Alligator Bayou Road which is acting as a levee for the homes downstream of Spanish Lake Swamp. Can't think of any actual man made levees near Santa Maria
That's exactly what they are talking about. Chinooks were dropping huge sandbags earlier onto a supposed hole in the road. They have stopped since it got dark so it doesn't seem like anyone knows how that's holding up. its very touch and go out there right now. Got my boat hooked back up ready to head that way if needed. I'm about 3 miles from there.

Why is it out now when it's been on this entire time, that's bizarre?

Can we get an Ascension Parish update?
I'm having trouble finding any real projections (other than the 100 year flood map).

quote:i think living in SLa may just be expensive on the front or back end... I think wwl mentioned today that 12% of BR holds flood insurance... It's going to be expensive on the back end... Sucks
The problem is it's hard to have super strict zoning and manageable living expenses in BR
But frick living anywhere else. SLa is home

I really would love any update on U-club!
UClub is dry right now. As others have said, the swamp taking on a lot of water is concerning though.

You live in the back of the club? There's some flooding in the back

after spending all day wading through water I've got several what appear to be bite marks, spots on my body. kinda freaked out since you couldn't see what was in the water.

Is that what those Chinooks are doing? First saw them around 3:00 but didn't know if they were evacuating people or delivering supplies.

MikeD add Marepaus to that as well. Jay grimes has been calling bullshite with that meter all day.

This is the last thing I have seen released from the parish 7 hours ago (not counting the Sorrento voluntary evac)
