The river gauge at Antioch would confirm that. I'm thinking by tomorrow afternoon I'Lloyd be able to make it.

It seems like the Amite is a huge cause of the flooding, if the repairs in this article had been made how much could have been avoided? LINK

I'd guess they mean Alligator Bayou Road which is acting as a levee for the homes downstream of Spanish Lake Swamp. Can't think of any actual man made levees near Santa Maria

But how do we go from normal level to at the banks capacity with no rain? That is an extremely large amount of water.

It is, but if/when the Amite River is @ 12-14 feet, waterways that flow into it are going to fill up if they're below those levels. That is how back flooding works.

Just talked to a friend in nearby subdivision on Causey. He says the water is coming from muddy Creek.

don't know exactly... I explained the boundaries, if someone could help.. I think it's just "St George" or "village of St George", but not sure if that is part of the neighborhood or the whole thing or what.... Thanks for any info

Damn people are down voting me for asking about a loved ones neighborhood

Manchac Place is still dry as a bone. Could have cut grass today if I wasn't lazy. Not sure if we're high enough to be clear or just a hair away from disaster. I'm not gonna sleep well until Bayou Manchac starts flowing the right way and going down

my very unexperted opinion says that the amount of rain in a 48 hour period, it doesn't matter how deep and leveed a river is, a metro area is going to take on water.... I mean I guess if you started over and used super strict zoning and all that you could have done better, I just think this was a disaster where if Pete's house dust take water then Paul's would because Mother Nature is dropping the water no matter what....

Take a that with a grain of salt....

From what I understand there is supposed to be a diversion canal north of the city coming on line and that could help keep the rivers with less water flowing from up north, but still that's a shite ton of inches still dropped in a given area

I'm here also, and can't believe how dry it's been.

I really would love any update on U-club!

The problem is it's hard to have super strict zoning and manageable living expenses in BR
