Thanks. The water would have to rise 4-5 feet to give them a problem I think.

I'm thinking the same..that whole neighborhood should be good..there is a little walk way wooden bridge between the two subdivisions..someone spray painted marks on the bank to see if it's rising..it's at the Orange mark now and then there are two more red marks..around noon the water was about 4 to 5 inches below the Orange mark and you could see the culvert on the coming from the other subdivision..the water is totally over the culvert now..

It's insane. I feel so bad for everyone that has no where to go and then doesn't have flood insurance.

Steltz...millerville and old Hammond is apparently still underwater. I would wait and get confirmation before heading that way. We are trying to get there as well.

It is already going down now.

ETA in Santa Maria

I'm not going to question eyes on the ground, but that doesn't jive with the Bayou Manchac gages slightly upstream.

That is not to say the gages are increasing significantly, but they're increasing nonetheless.

Just spoke with my grandmother and she said the water has gone down 2-3 inches in about 14 hours. She lives in Santa Maria

Damn, they are a hell of a lot closer to the Amite than that. Probably less than half the distance.

The answer to conflicting info is flow outside of the banks that are gauged - Spanish Lake Swamp.

How hard is it to say that water is going towards campus or away from campus?

I get that, but the Amite @ Bayou Manchac Point has been higher than the other measurements for quite some time. I find it peculiar that the measurements @ Kleinpeter seem to "lag" for so long. At the rate it is rising there and the predicted fall at the mouth near the Amite, it could have another 2 feet to go.

That gauge is at my parents house. It lags because it is all the way on the other side of the swamp and water has to flow around the back side of kleinpeter to get to the gauge. It looks to have been about an inch an hour or less there all day.

Bayou Fountain at Summerwood subdivision has been at the same level all day and still flowing down stream at a noticeable rate.

That water is going down in Santa Maria is a great sign.

At least 4 more feet Amite at Port Vincent

You're infamous in these threads for driving by with outdated and often unsubstantiated shite. It is irresponsible to post a video titling it "at least 4 more feet @ Port Vincent" when the video was posted 6 hours ago.

Possibly, but that doesn't effect the gages upstream from Santa Maria showing a slow but steady rise despite reports of water decreasing in Santa Maria.
