The Great Flood of 2016: Backflow Flooding Occuring (8/14/16)
Ward Creek now over 20.5 ft in Santa Maria house is flooded and speed of flow has increased significantly

Everyone up Bayou Fountain and Ward Creek should take heed of this. Santa Maria will be the leading indicator of backflow. Not to say that it will be this bad all the way up but we are seeing backflow occuring all the way to Nicholson and Ben Hur right now. That it is continuing to get higher at a fast pace at Santa Maria says that these other locations are under the gun.

Remember, this is exactly what happened with Clay Cut and Jones Creek last night. People towards the far end of those creeks were 100% high and dry and posting here. We warned them, many of you actually left, and I've gotten lots of the people that did leave thanking me today.

I'm not saying it will be that bad along Bayou Fountain, but I am hearing cascading closures now (Nicholson/Ben Hur/Innovation/Bluebonnett at Burbank/Highland at Siegen). It is clear that this is slowly but surely occurring.

Behind Lakeside bar. Water was knee to waist deep at 3:30, I got out of dodge while I still could. Not looking good for the street

I know those apartments!

By the way, you have to link to the JPG, not the regular imgur link.

Nicholson and Gardere is shut down

Wtf. Nicholson is several feet higher than the natural ground pretty much all the way from gardere to LSU.

Both roads are shut down?

I live in westminster. Friday morning I had water almost up to my doorstep that then receded rapidly, almost like someone opened a dam. looking at this graphic

it seems like it crested and then rapidly went down. I drove by ward creek a couple times today and it was definitely still low. any idea what caused it to go down this rapidly even though it never stopped raining?

hoping this backflow stops before it gets to my street. there are plenty of FEMA lots on my street and around the corner. Thankfully I do have flood insurance which was required for my mortgage since there have been claims on my house before.

Update for St Amant area around Holy Rosay

The water is rising signicantly. I just took a ride and Black Bayou is over the bridge in back of Savoy. I am assuming that the bridge over Beco is almost topped too because the water was touching the bottom around 7:30pm

I am in Westminster also. My back yard is up against Ward Creek. It looks like it has 5-6 feet to swell before it even gets above its bank again. Friday it was in my back yard though.

Very important. Take photos, retain claim reference numbers and register damage, even if outside covered parishes.

I am about to go check out Burbank and Bluebonnet.

Impotent went out to check Burbank and Bluebonnet a little while ago and hopefully will be back soon. Apparently the area is seeing some flooding according to the scanner, and especially up between Burbank and Nicholson towards Ben Hurr. I'm interested in seeing what he finds.
