A little bit of hope for some - I caught part of JBE on WBRZ and he stated that those that do not have flood insurance because they are in an area that did not require insurance due to the flood maps will be eligible for assistance from FEMA. He said it was limited and individual max would be $30,000 (with proof of $$damage). I don't have a link but wanted to pass it on as I hope this will help a little. He stated you need to register with FEMA but that is all I heard as I had walked out of the room.
Everyone is in our thoughts and prayers. We got some damages in Crowley but nothing like everyone to the East of us.
Also for those with total losses, they will issue low interest loans for much higher amounts.

High tide in Lake Maurepas/Ponchartrain was at 5:45 PM, low tide is 4:45 AM tomorrow so the tide is going out, reducing the overall resistance to outflow through the Amite River basin. This will help.

Does the breach at Manchac help or hurt the bluebonnet/Burbank area?
Posted on 8/14/16 at 9:53 pm to Paul Allen
Anyone know where this breach was specifically?

Where is this by?
St. Gabriel. From Bayou Paul to Alligator Bayou I believe for the evac. Certainly closer you go Alligator Bayou the more the need to leave.
Mitch Ourso didn't say where the breach was.

Seems like it would help but I would also be interested in hearing an answer from someone who knows about this.

We're at the intersection of 74 & bluff. Our 1st entrance was flooded yesterday & one of the side streets leading to the other entrance was getting close to being impassable. But all of this was due to the rain. All that water is pretty much gone with the exception of a couple inches at the first entrance. No clue how the back water will affect us, but I'm pretty confident we'll be ok

I'm not sure it's a breach. Every time the word breach has been used it has actually been topping the levees and roads. Not breaching

Any updates on the water level on Oneal Lane? Both at Harrelsferry and I-12?

Burbank closed at Highland, Highland heading towards CCL at burbank closed. Water is def rising btw Siegen and Bluebonnet on Highland.
Bluebonnet and Highland still dry, however Bluebonnet btw Highland and Burbank is also steadily taking in more water.

Someone has to know where this breach is.

Canal that drains to Bayou Fountain in the Highland Bluebonnet area has been slowly creeping up this evening after being stable most of the afternoon. The rise isn't anything alarming but will be glad when it starts to go the other way.
For those curious about where this is:
I have put together a map to highlight 3 interesting time periods:
1) Where Manchac crosses Airline/I-10 (its actually slightly NW of that). At around 2:00 PM today, the area took on water and started overfilling its banks.
2) Where Bayou Fountain, feeding into Manchac, started flooding over Siegen at Highland. This occurred today around 6:00 PM.
3) Where this current report comes in at. We had reports of some of the Burbank area flooding at 7:00 PM and this report is at 10:00 PM

My parents live back in Spanish lake off of ridge Rd. Still a ways to go before it gets even to 2001 levels so still a lot of water left to come into the bluff swamp area.

So this water will be going into Spanish Lake, correct? Hoping they somehow have the ability to contain it with 30 and 74

I didn't go down to gs and the thruway but wax and gs is still chest deep, a couple was walking through when I was by there around 5. Saw about 4-5' of magnolia bridge above water.

Can anybody shed some light on the Galvez area. I left with the pregnant stepdaughter, her husband, my 1 year old grandson and 2 dogs at 4pm and am now in Laplace in a hotel. Hwy 930 Sumerlyn subdivision. Close to Prairieville middle school. Thanks

For those asking about airline and highline, passed through there a few mins ago. The fire dept had a make shift levee and were pumping out water. There was still 6-8 inches on airline. If the water keeps rising, not sure how much longer they can keep it open.
