correct.
water is not rising. but it is also not receding. needs to recede soon because more rain could be coming tomorrow, as you know.

What do you project for the springlake area of bluebonnet?

Can you say why you believe the water will rush out of the swamp quickly? The swamp seems like a tank - it is filling from the backflow and forward flow. Once it fills, the backflow will pick back up, but why will the swamp exacerbate it? Wouldn't it just pick up where it left off, with water sitting in the swamp until it can began flowing downstream again?

Just to note that the water at Bluebonnet in Bayou Fountain rose 2" from 2:25 to 7:30. I've got the pics of the USGS gauge to show it

There is definitely water in the Broadmoor area that runs along Jones Creek (around Sharp from my viewpoint).
Thoughts on water crossing Airline?

Airline at manchac open as of 5 minutes ago. West is a cluster. East was 65mph.

Yeah...that's what worries me but as of today I'll take any small victory.
Tomorrow is gonna be another battle

Why would the swamp have much "room" to hold water? It's been raining bigtime there too.
In EBR Jones Creek north saw tremendous floods, Claycut Bayou South bad, but IMHO not as bad as I and others thought. Don't know why.
Water is still slowly rising so it's not over.
Ascension is about to get hammered.

Boneheaded thing to do really.
Incredibly boneheaded... but I'm glad to hear it's nothing worse than fireworks

I'm curious about the neighborhood (The Lakes) across Burbank from the soccer field. ( Google Map Image) The only entrance or exit to the neighborhood is a bridge that connects it to Highland Rd.
Been staying at the inlaws and they are directly across Highland and have a perfect view of Bayou Fountain. It did not appear to rise while we were there and was not quite up to people's backyards.
I hope we didn't make a huge mistake but we came back home to Summerwood. If the backflow happens tonight then we will just have to live with that and get out as quickly and safely as we can.
I appreciate the amazing information being provided and I don't think it is alarmist but is instead giving us all the possibilities. I'd rather expect the worst and be relieved in the morning that it didn't turn out so bad. But if it does then I can't say I wasn't warned.

Manchac was cruising towards Perkins area a few minutes ago. Passed over on airline.

I think he means it is a false sense of security. The swamp won't dump into the bayou but it won't hide the true rate of back flooding and the water will shoot up

Just a slight update from Keystone in Galvez.
Expecting Devall road to be covered with water at the bridge by the end of the night. Lake isn't too bad right now.
These pics were taken at around 7:30. First is of the entrance at Devall Road, second is of the Lake.
Praying everyone is safe around here.

Taken around 6ish were houses flooded when you were there? If not there were when I was there. The ones that weren't built up. No idea how that was approved.
When I was there, there was water up to their thresholds, hadnt breached the ground level houses yet.
I think they were some of the first built, I have no idea how that was approved either.

how santa maria is making out?
Just talked to my boss. They are on the parkway about halfway down. As hilly as it is in there, pretty safe to say some houses have water in them. They are pretty high and said they have about 18" to go before it gets in the house.

100%! I am sure the government doesn't allow for that and makes them wait a certain amount of time, I would guess the law is AT LEAST a month, before sharing images but it would be cool if they made exceptions. At the very least the government should post images in situations like this, obviously not real time but I am sure within a few hours they could block out anything they needed to and post the images.

We just now got data coverage back here. This subdivision is fine nk water. Outside it is a different story.

It's all about watershed. The swamp wasn't being fed by the large areas that the bayou is. It was an isolated area self contained. Now it is being bed by manchac. And is filling up.
