For anyone interested, my parents got back to their house on Sarah Lane in Watson by boat. The inside still had two to three feet of water in it. They managed to save the cat they left behind, but they are also one of, if not the highest above sea level in the subdivision.

Yup, the area is rising.
As this gauge continues to rise, the threat will move up Highland and Burbank.

Supernovasky, just curious. What is your background and how do you know this stuff?

Supernovasky, just curious. What is your background and how do you know this stuff?
I do statistical modeling. I also have a massive interest in meteorology and almost went to school for it, but have just maintained it as a hobby. But I am familiar with weather and flood modeling.

Where does Jim live?
I thought I heard on the radio today that he lives in Park Forest Subdivision.
Somebody else can confirm this?

I have no idea what to think about Bayou Fountain around Burbank at Bluebonnet. It sure seems to have stabilized but then on the news just now they said it might go up another 5 feet or so. Just not sure what to expect. Wish I had a crystal ball.

Word. I think your illustrations are helpful. Not saying you're not correct in your belief, but I really hope you're wrong about the extent of flooding up bayou fountain

Don't just believe what you hear, look and see - this is happening right up from where that is expected to occur. The Amite is not at it's highest point yet, and the Manchac is clearly still rising:
That is a current view of the cam.
The rate that it is rising is astounding. Look at this image from earlier today:
That was only 6 hours ago.

I will get some pics of siegen/burbank/highland intersection shortly.

Does anyone have pics/updates on the intersection of W. Parker and Burbank?
Posted on 8/14/16 at 6:27 pm to BigB0882
I thought WAFB just said it may rise a little but it should settle in the early morning hours tomorrow

I absolutely hope I'm wrong too, but I posted this last night, people that were here can attest to it:
quote:
My immediate areas of concern, in order of importance and threat to life, In BATON ROUGE:
1) Homes along the Comite in Merydale and Monticello. (Currently flooding extensively)
2) Homes along Jones Creek going all the way from Shenandoah to Goodwood (should start flooding extensively soon as the crest moves into the area)
3) Homes along Clay Cut, starting at Tiger Bend. This group probably saw waters recede and think things are safe, so they could be taken by surprise. This is next.
4) Homes along Clay Cut and Airline/Sherwood up to Airline/Bluebonnet. Flooding may not have been extensive during flash flooding today but back channel flooding could be bad.
5) Homes along Bayou Fountain and Ward Creek in Eastern Baton Rouge. It should be a while til they fully crest but they may get it worse than anyone above because all of the above areas drain into the point. This would be the entire Burbank/Highland region as well as the mall and locations along Perkins.
6) LSU Campus, Northgate area. Already a bit flooded, if the backwater flooding is intense enough, it could overwhelm the area.
That was on this page:

Everything but 5 and 6 has happened.
