Not necessarily. Backflow can continue for some time after the crest has passed as long as the Amite River is higher than whatever bayou it's backflowing into. At some point after the crest has passed, the Amite River will then again be lower than the flooded areas and backflow will end and the flood will begin to pull back.
Just like backflow began before the crest arrived, it can last after the crest has passed.

The soccer fields have taken on a good bit of water. Highland and bluebonnet dry. Bluebonnet heading towards burbank is taking on water in front of Albertsons

Exactly.
The Amite is not at it's highest point yet, and the Manchac is clearly still rising:

The rate that it is rising is astounding. Look at this image from earlier today:
That was only 6 hours ago.
