Absolutely not?

Compare the results to his contemporary peers. Saban and Urban are all timers, no doubt HOFers. I maintain Les is borderline, fair enough. Who else in the most important and competitive conference did better from 2005 to 2015? I guess no other SEC coach from that era is even in consideration.

It wont be some great injustice or snub if Les doesnt make it but he has a case, thats my only point. The huge talent advantages were earned; despite this common refrain, no school "recruits itself."
I think there are fairly strong arguments both in favor and against Les' enshrinement.

Where I come down is: is it possible to tell the story of cfb's most financially successful (and arguably most popular) era without including Les Miles? I think the answer is no for both statistical and narrative reasons. Those LSU teams over a decade period created some of the most memorable moments in cfb history - some for terrible reasons of course - with historically great players.

I wanted him gone as much as anyone after the Ole Miss and Tennessee debacles among others, but as others point out, he is one Drew Brees passed physical away from 2 or 3 titles and a radically altered GOAT conversation. I wont be broken up about it if he doesnt make it because of how things shook out in the end, but his level or success and the drama with which it was achieved makes a stronger case for inclusion than not.
Besides just being tGOAT, its hard not to respect that he walked away when he knew it was time and didnt have to be pried away from the job (not that anyone would have been able/tried to)

One of the funniest tropes is the "Jay bought a natty with Skenes, anyone could do that." Leaving aside the wild path they took to get there, Jay didn't use Skenes for one inning in a championship series against a stacked Florida team that already has 2 MLB every day players. He must be really lucky to have won those two...

Even though it seems like an obvious choice in retrospect, the decision to concede game 2 of that series proved his mastery of the big picture. On top of that, he knows how to put players into position to succeed and is pulling in the talent as well as anyone. If we are in fact evenly matched with this CC team, I trust that we have the coaching advantage that might prove the deciding factor.

Last 3 Games vs Kentucky

All postseason (last year's Super Regional and today)

combined score:

LSU 33 Kentucky 3

Take that, Minge
If its that easy, why doesn't every school do it?

1. L0L. The vaccines DO reduce the risk of transmission, and the data that has been cited as evidence of your proposition is being willfully misinterpreted by bad-faith actors who want the vaccines to fail.

Even in the light most charitable to this idea ("muh equal viral loads!") the data has shown that the load decreases at a quicker rate in the vaccinated. Try again.

2. Reduced chance of infection = reduced chance of transmission.

3. Guess this doesn't matter. Almost like if everyone is vaccinated in the stadium, any transmission that did occur would be effectively mitigated.

Cmon bruh
The Amazon Visa is worthwhile if you use them for recurring/grocery or big consumer electronic purchases, esp with with no anual fee. And the 2% on gas is a nice supplement if you don't have a dedicated gas card.

I have been a Mainieri defender and am still not sure I want him gone. But I have to admit this is true.

I'm encouraged by the SECT run, win or lose today, but this team still struggles on the road, and that's where we will he next weekend.

Clearly Hoover is just a home series.

Depending on what regional we are placed in, it may not be much of a home-field advantage to a nascent baseball contender to have us coming into a small stadium and bringing some fans.

We doubled our Road/Neutral Site wins in Hoover, with two coming against Top 10 teams (one more please?). I'll take it.
Thanks for your work on this, oOoLsUtIgErSoOo! This thread makes it way easier to view all these permutations of bubbledom at a glance.

Hopefully the SCAR win was enough to stamp our ticket. Beating a Top 5 team next with few pitching options left is quite a hill to climb but if they do that, it'll be a lock.

Why waist your time on a dumb arse question like this. Is it your goal to bring nothing but negativity to the board? It's already bad enough as it is.

Looks like you're plenty capable of that yourself.

Feel free to create a "Who is the Best LSU Coach of the 21st Century?" companion thread wherein you will be roasted for implicitly cupping Saban's nuts.

A few of you need to look up the definition of the word "rant" sometime. It's all in good fun.
Good post.

Too positive.

Pretty measured by this board's early season freakout standards. But its equally premature as "We're fricked, we suck" after a random midweek loss

Hilliard has been nothing short of a revelation so far this season. In a pitching staff plagued by inconsistency despite talent, he has been consistently effective and often dominant.

It's highly unlikely he can replicate his current success against the SEC gauntlet of competition (I mean, he'll give up a run eventually), and some of those series will be tough on the young guys on staff. But, at the very least, CPM is finding some options to go to when our core veterans aren't firing on all cylinders.
Terrible loss for a young team with so many question marks.

We can hope that it at least helps Mainieri sort out the young talent and find another dependable middle infielder for when Josh returns.

The early games against what seemed like shitty competition are gonna take on a greater importance with the new players we're gonna have to integrate. Mainieri usually finds a good formula.
I believe in the postgame the use of "Lesticles" became common in the national media.

Experience Matters

Throughout LSU's tournament run, the freshmen on this team have been the bulwark of our success. They have kept them from losing one of those games no one can really afford to drop along the way in the tournament. Watson most of all, but Walker, Smith, Hess, Slaughter have been at the heart of a 1-loss tear through the postseason.

In that take-all game vs. Oregon State, the sophomores, juniors and seniors reasserted themselves to ensure the team survived and advanced to this final.

To beat a team as good as Florida in the a three game series, the functional heart of our team for most of this season has to beat more strongly than ever. There is no way anyone can claim this team lacks top-line talent among its experienced leaders. Motivation won't be an issue, so here's to hoping the execution of our blue chip guys is top-notch and we bring No. 7 home this week.
