they live near the corner of excalibur and lancelot. there is water halfway up to their house, but not all the way. it had started to recede about 2 hours ago, now it is rising slowly again. hoping it crests and recedes soon.
they say the neighborhood is a crapshoot in terms of flooding. their side of the street isn't getting as much flooding as the side across from them. the back of the neighborhood is seeing more flooding than the front, however i cannot verify for sure what the front of the neighborhood (the entrance) looks like.

The water in my dad's house in Monticello has already dropped and is out of the house. He has one of the higher locations and only had 4 or so inches in and it's already down about a foot.

Talked to my mom who lives there. Said it looks like they will be ok. Some houses on the lake are getting water though.

Not sure, I cannot put eyes on it. But we can say for sure that backup is occurring on Manchac at I-10, which will feed directly into that area.

That is correct
I'm glad Jim - and everyone else that was rescued is okay.
I only lived in Baton Rouge during my college years long ago, but BR has some good people. This catastrophe has brought out the best in the people of the city.
God bless everyone who has lost their homes and possessions and God bless the professional and volunteer rescuers.

The fields on both sides of Burbank have been filling up all day. When I passed by at 5 PM, it was still passable in both directions, though the water had come out a foot or so over the white divided line at the curve by the old model airplane field in the westbound lane. Cops were parked there, so they may shut it down. It's moved probably 4-5 feet since I checked it at 7 AM, and it's also affecting a longer stretch of road. The opposite side is taking on water but at a slower rate.

This is probably acting as a buffer zone for the areas further up Highland/Burbank.
