Just talked to a friend at Gardner Realtors in New Orleans and people are lined up right now in NOLA area buying/renting housing from Baton Rouge area. She said phones are ringing off the hook as people realize their homes are destroyed and at least temporarily moving to NOLA due to amenities and schools being ready for kids.
This sucks - my wife and I were about to move out of the state to Colorado - she just got a job there. Our house is high and dry but this is probably going to wreck the market.

ETA: What's it looking like south of LSU down Highland (Staring area)?
I'm in Magnolia Lakes on Staring - about halfway between Hyacinth and Highland. It would take an act of Congress to flood my neighborhood.
As of about 30 minutes ago, Staring was drivable to Burbank. Highland Creek is dry, from what I could see, but Bayou Fountain had water covering the road and crawling up into yards.

Just talked to my parents by lake martin in ascension and the water has started flowing south fast since the pumps were cut off.

The people riding around to take pictures and videos are annoying me.

That's not good. I was thinking tonight would be the last night of being worried
We live in the area drained by the Panama/Conway system across the interstate from Gonzales and all reports say that we will see significant flooding.
I can verify that is draining well right now, just don't know when it going to start backing up on us...the crest for that area is Monday afternoon (from last reports I've seen)

What do you mean "cut the power"? If it's an intentional thing, when will it be turned back on?
When some houses in a grid get a certain amount of water in them they will cut power to the grid to prevent the houses from burning down if people have not thrown their main breaker.

Not good. Wonder if Ascension Christian is the next school causality.

I forgot to mention she also said their is a big demand for commercial office space as well as businesses need to reopen quickly without interruption. The commercial agents are working over drive now.
