The British talk constantly about how their NHS is an example of the world's best health care, but the NHS does not cover unnecessary cosmetic surgeries like braces for teeth.

Can't:

Pronounce Aluminum

You mean al-u-mineum?

Because they spell it different. Aluminium (in Commonwealth English) or aluminum (in American English)

True, except for some cities. NYC has a solid mass transit system.

They discovered it; they oughta be able to spell it however they want.

Some of its good. I used to eat shepherds pie a lot when I was in school over there and it was tasty. Fresh fish & chips is good. And Indian food has been anglicized to the point what you get in England can be considered english food....like Tex-Mex over here.

Other things they do well:

Music - lots of great bands came from England.

TV shows - BBC America is great.

Royalty is good at marrying babes - Princess Di and Kate Middleton.

And it operates at a loss. It's all state-subsidized and comes out of the taxpayer's wallet, whether they use it or not. It's the same with the NY subway system. Even though it has huge ridership numbers, it's still a money-loser after you take into account the cost of debt service on the construction bonds, which is the same reason the European systems are all unprofitable. It's just insanely expensive to build commuter rail of any type, with subways being the most ungodly expensive to initially construct.

Sounds about right. Those Northern stereotypes always seem to ring true.

I think the stereotype really developed after the wars. Lack of milk and calcium during both World Wars (and just the general lack of most things) led to poor dental development. Very widespread and so less stigma on it as a whole.

We see it more with Brits simply because they are our closest allies and share the language, so media could be easily shared. I think I read somewhere that the Poles actually have the worst teeth in Europe.

Saying Brits have bad teeth is the same as saying Americans are fat.

I did not meet one Brit in their 20s with bad teeth. Not a single one.

Been doing work in the north shore and there are a shite load of people with rotting teeth or no teeth at all. It's fricking gross.

Aside from teeth/grooming, you could replace Britain with Europe

During the dark ages of UK car manufacturing, the 70's, indeed the British created some abominations.
These days there is a reason why almost all F1 teams are UK based.
